| Chris Champagne is a writer-performer, poet, and political satirist based in New Orleans:
My poetry can best be described as stream of consciousness or surrealistic, with a definite bent toward humor. My satirical work is overwhelmingly political.

Have performed both poetry and satire live on stage in New Orleans, San Francisco, Raleigh NC, Santa Fe, Austin, Natchez MS, Lafayette LA, Washington DC and Chicago, among others.
Have appeared on stage all over New Orleans performing live satirical reviews, most of which I write myself. One man shows include CITIZEN NUMA, THE JOE HORN MONOLOGUES, CIRQUE DE DOGRIS, THE REVENGE OF HAP GLAUDI and RADIO FREE NUMA. Other satirical shows ROACH OPERA, IMPORTANT CHICKENS, HUNGADUNGA HUNGADUNGA & McCORMICK, and FEAR AND LOATHING IN METAIRIE.
Appeared on local NPR affiliate WWNO-FM's "Crescent City". And recently as a stand up comic in New Orleans and Metairie.
Appeared at Le Chat Noir in New Orleans in WIN PLACE AND SHOW, a stage show of stories about the New Orleans Fair Grounds and horse racing, 60 per cent of which I wrote.
Author and producer-director of the CD "THE CONCERT FOR RICHARD NIXON", a Firesign Theater-type work featuring the impressionist Ken Ferguson.
Written and performed in the local GRIDIRON PRESS CLUB show for over ten years, and have written over a hundred sketches for that show.
In 2003 was endorsed for President of the United States by our Senator Mary Landrieu. [I think she was kidding.]
Satirical column appeared in Sauce Picqante once a month for 18 months, and have written satirical pieces for WhereYat Magazine and Scat magazine in New Orleans.
Poetry has appeared in Times-Picayune newspaper, and several anthologies including Maple Leaf Rag I and II, Faulkner Literary Festival Double Dealer.
Member of two national Poetry Slam Teams: San Francisco 1993 as captain of New Orleans team, and 1999 Chicago as member of Baton Rouge team. |
