Bio
Eudora June singer-songwriter and rock music performer has been composing songs most her life and was consumed with creating things from paper machete, interpretive dances, to putting on musicals in her backyard. Performing was always prominent in the Belknap family starting with her father's career as a young man and the "Belknap Family Singers" (yes they had a family bus). EJ quickly portrayed hidden talents, writing lyrics to her dad's unfinished demos buried in the basement, playing "drums" on turned over baskets, and recording her own radio show on her karaoke machine. Inspired early on by a somewhat chaotic upbringing moving around the Chicago suburbs, she found sanctuary in writing poetry, screenplays, and her own music…falling in love with the likes of Nirvana, Etta James, Beatles, and show tunes. Soon she packed her bags, emerged from the Midwest, and ended up in Atlanta where she officially stepped out from pop/gospel family roots developing a voice all her own. Ever since her debut solo show at 18 she has been performing original music in renowned ATL music clubs such as Smith's olde Bar, 529, Highland Inn Ballroom, and the Drunken Unicorn as well as touring to other Southeast cities in SC, TN, and LA. Over the passed seven years she has mingled and played with some of the best artists in the Southeast (See our friends and Hijacking Music Collective) while continuing to develop her own style infused with soulful vox, vulnerability, and aggressive rock undertones. After graduating from Georgia State in 2010 with a degree in English Literature, Eudora June went directly into the studio with renowned indie producer Justin Mullinix (Generator Sound Studios) to record her debut six-song EP entitled Siren Song. Released June 23rd 2011 Siren Song is a compilation of Eudora June's creative works over the span of six years and has received heart felt positive reviews all over indie blogs and music mags (see media for more). With a powerhouse vocal range she showcases strong emotional tones while playing guitar, piano, and whatever else is lying around (tambourine!) Eudora June continues to play shows in the Southeast as well as collaborate with other ATL artists. Such as tracking vocals for local Hip Hop group Paperwork and recording her version of "Zombie" (the Cranberries) to be used in promotion for an Atlanta fashion show (Resurrection Oct 2011). Eudora June currently resides in Atlanta and is continuing to compose works for an anticipated full-length record as well as seeking representation and licensing for existing completed works. Her goal is to inspire others, to capture an authenticity of emotion, the creative process, and continuing to perform while collaborating with other great artistic minds to make music….videos….and of course paper machete. "Siren Song" is not only the realization of a lifelong ambition and my artist debut, but it is a statement. It is a declaration that you can survive anything, get your soul all bashed up, black & blue, and from that wreckage create something beautiful…and real. What "Siren Song" is all about, and what I had to do to create it, was not covering anything up, but rather rip my experiences wide open so I could tell a story" –Eudora June- -
