Interests

  • General

Literature, writing, poetry, (check out www.theWordparty.com), grammar, herbal and holistic medicine, my cats, animals in general, spiritual enlightenment, dancing, music, belly-dancing, yoga, tattoos, piercings, craziness, beautiful things, couture, nature, Emily the Strange, going to shows and then complaining that I'm too old for this shit, spending as little time on the subway as possible.

  • Music

I'm sick of my ipod. Isn't there anything good to listen to anymore?
I heart riot grrrl, new wave, old school punk, hardcore, classic rock, electro, industrial, belly dancing music, chanting, eltheral stuff, 80s freestyle, disco, funk, big band stuff, ska, some country (like Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline--not that Garth Brooks shit), cellos, old school gansta rap like NWA, good stuff in general.
I hate, hate, hate EMO. It sucks wet ass. So does most techno. And R&B.
I am a serious music snob. I only like bands that can prove--live--that they are talented, innovative, and original--the test is always the live performance. I've stopped listening to bands that suck live like the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs and Delirium. Music, like anything in life, should have integrity.
  • Movies

LOTR--the new ones & the old cartoons, Labrynth, Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, Say Anything, Nightmare Before X-mas, Almost anything Tim Burton, Star Wars (Episode IV-VI, though it's really all about Empire), Goodfellas, the Godfather, Heathers, Better Off Dead (I want my $2!!!!), Beetlejuice, Reservoir Dogs, the Usual Suspects, Breakfast at Tiffany's, too many to list.
  • Television

    Let's go Rangers!
I'm also addicted to Lost and Project Runway....
  • Books

I have an M.A. in medieval Eng. Literature--doesn't that say it all really? I've read more books than I could ever remember...a small selection: Chaucer, Christine de Pizan, Beowulf (the Seamus Heaney translation), Grendel by John Gardner, La Morte d' Arthur, Marie de France, Margaret Atwood (The Handmaid's Tale, Oryx and Crake, Cat's Eye), George Orwell (1984, Animal Farm) Ayn Rand (The Fountainhead, Atlas Shrugged), J. R. R. Tolkien (The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion), Gregory Macguire (Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West), Harry Potter, Neil Gaiman (Neverwhere, American Gods), Charles Dickens (Little Dorritt, David Copperfield, The Old Curiosity Shop, Bleak House); Toni Morrison (Tar Baby, Song of Solomon, Beloved, Jazz), Michel Foucault (The History of Sexuality, Discipline & Punish) , the Bronte sisters, Virginia Woolf, Wilkie Collins (The Woman in White, No Name), Doris Lessing, Iris Murdock...and as anyone who's ever had to help me move knows, many, many, many more...

About me:

I love my hubby--we're so much alike it's almost scary. I'm a crazy belly dancing yogi practicing Pagan--the hubby and I have recently been reading and learning about Kabbalah which is amazing.

I love animals. In hindsight, I really think that I should have become a vet. Maybe I still will, who knows? I'm back to being a vegetarian after eating chicken and poultry for a few years, because seriously, I cannot stomach the thought of eating animals.

I'm teaching again, so I currently have no life. I read, I grade papers, I go to school (my school and grad school AGAIN), lesson plan, and try to fit in the occasional nap. By the way, getting up at 5 a.m. sucks, but being back in the classroom makes it worth it (most of the time...heehee).

Check out my BLOG!

My "She's Krafty" blog discusses pretty much everything about me---my hubby, cats, friends, and of course, all my krafty projects:

Thank you for your messages... Geez, I got drunk on my last bottle of gin. Thank goodness my tolerance is such crap as of late that most of the bottle is still left. Well... more than half anyway... I love you! Looking forward to that photo shoot.

Read your hubby's page for more details on this very special party.
I'm tired and out of witty things to write.
Thanks for your letter. The Christening was awesome. We're all growns up and we're all grown's up. But I still have a bunch of party in me and this Sunday is going to be a Wicked one, Pun unintended, yet intended. The Boombazi are good friends to the Tribe and they always kick ass. Plus every time we're up North in their homestead of Portland they get great crowds going and show us the best time. I want to return the favor. So mark your calendar and take Monday off if you don't have it already. This will be a party for the record books.
    peace
