"Like The Cure all swirled up with Billie Holiday, and the voice of an angel dipped in gin. "TOMORROW BLUES" is an illicit affair, a stroll through dark Manhattan and a cigarette in the rain." - SERGE BIELANKO (MARAH)
""TOMORROW BLUES" is a great New York City record. It's beautiful and scary, joyous and sad. CHRISTINE SMITH is also perhaps the most natural, effortless musician I've ever known." - DAVE BIELANKO (MARAH)
"Listen to the fire-escape romance of “The Car Alarm Choir Lullaby”, the nocturnal reflections of “Age Of Indifference”, or the compressed melodrama of “Down The Street”, and you can’t help but think they don’t write ‘em like this anymore." - Paul Cantin (NO DEPRESSION)
"F***ing brilliant!" - TOMMY STINSON (REPLACEMENTS)
"Real life heartbreaking confessions with 5am swagger and sweet haunting melodies." - JESSE MALIN

Originally from Queens, NY, Christine Smith was a child prodigy and an only child who began playing piano at the age of four. A year later, she started taking piano and voice lessons with retired Vaudeville performer Lila Sharkey and later had classical training under partial scholarship with retired Juilliard teacher Helena Arkus.
Christine’s been performing in public since the age of six, and eventually went on to learn drums, guitar, bass, autoharp, and most recently…the accordion. She began songwriting as a teenager, and was so heavily influenced by European/British music, culture and history, she decided that she would move to London to pursue her music, and do some exploring and experimenting in life.
She spent over a decade living in England performing Jazz Standards in London’s finest hotels and restaurants, and also hanging out in dark, smoky, Goth clubs. While continuing to write and develop her own music, she ended up working in theatre and radio as a musical director, actress and writer in comedy, performing in London and at the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland.
Since returning to NYC, Christine has found work playing piano/keyboard/bvs...touring worldwide and recording with such diverse acts as Crash Test Dummies, Jesse Malin, and Ryan Adams and Marah.
Christine is now the newest member of Marah, and the band just finished recording the forthcoming January 2008 release, "Angels Of Destruction!" (Yep Roc Records). Meanwhile, Christine has begun recording her second solo record, with David Bielanko producing.
Hey girl! :) Had a GREAT time at the show tonight here in L.A! Was sooo nice to see you again! Hope you will be here in July! Meanwhile, I'm editing the vids I took of the show tonight. Be looking for LOTS of email! ;-D
Hello Christine, greetings from Italy! Today I was riding in my car and I put your cd (that you signed in Barcelona) on the player: the road started shining! KISS
Have to say I agree with C you really are amazing. It was lovely meeting you too, sorry for being gushy!!! hope you got home safe and we see you back on this side of the pond soon xxx
Still been spinning your solo disc alot recently. I finally realize why I've been so drawn to it - most people put out a collection of songs...you actually recorded a proper album. You need to come do a solo gig in our new stomping grounds in Charlotte, NC.
Your hair is perfect. It's so Jimmy Page circa '69-'70, well before the beard (not to say you couldn't pull off a cool beard too.) Anyway, I'm in awe! and a little jealous.......
Hello Christine, how are you doin? last day John told me he's at home, tired for the european tour... did you have fun here? I wanna thank you so much for the concert in Barcelona, the picture we took together and the sign on your cd (I like your record so much). Peace and Love Luca from Italy
