At age 23, I returned home to Omaha, Nebraska from the U.S. Marine Corps with an Honorable Discharge and the rank of Corporal. I began teaching martial arts and running a business on June 29, 1994 in a school yard with literally nothing but “the shirt on my back.” I was the first professional to bring the art of Kempo/Kenpo Karate to Omaha from California. Since 1994, I have exposed thousands of people in the Metro area to the art, including police officers, doctors and three mayors. I teach classes of all ages at my school located at 13776 Millard Ave, in Omaha. No other schools or individuals are authorized or affiliated with my organization.
On September 1, 2006, I was promoted to 10th Degree Black Belt (the highest level of Black Belt and Grand Master). The promotion made me the second youngest in the world and the youngest person in the United States ever to achieve this rank. I also hold a 6th Degree Black Belt in the arts of Karazenpo Go Shinjutsu (with a teaching certificate) and Tenshi Goju Kai. I have been awarded a Bachelor of Martial Arts and the high titles of Grand Master, Soke (Head of family) and Professor.
Since I began teaching martial arts, I have appeared on local television shows presenting self-defense tips for those who could not afford classes. In my presentations, I have stressed the importance of being aware of one's surroundings in order to react quickly and effectively in life threatening situations. I have been actively involved in the community by volunteering my time to teach self-defense to the disabled, providing free safety awareness classes to young children to increase self-discipline, and raising money for children with cancer. I have also taught college seminars to help participants gain self-confidence by learning simple, effective techniques to protect themselves from date rape, mugging, and other types of assaults. I also work with kids who come from tough economic and social backgrounds. I see life in Nebraska in ways that many people don’t, and I plan to make a difference.
Throughout my martial arts career, I have been recognized and awarded rank or promotions by ten Grand Masters/Organizations across the United States. I have been inducted into four martial arts Hall of Fames for “Master Instructor of the Year,” “School of the Year,” “Founder and Grand Master of the Year” and “Outstanding Contribution to The Martial Arts Grand Master” (Board certified category), with the additional honored recognition of Ambassador to the Martial Arts. Governor Dave Heineman also presented me with a proclamation honoring a National Martial Arts Day in Nebraska.

In addition to my martial arts career, I am a photographer, writer and poet. Some of my poetry was published for the first time in Love & Romance Poetry Anthology: Essential Verse (ISBN: 978-0-557-01434-7). This book of poets from around the world became available for worldwide distribution through book retailers such as Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble in December 2008.

To finish the business that will never be complete
As I breathe in the cold fresh pine air to warm my heart,
Relieving me from years of draining dreams and messes to come

The lack of not having for I would have became a slave to it
The game that cannot be won from her smile and slatternliness,
Look up at me and into my eyes with burning flesh
With a mouth and tongue of swirling pearl,
Without the laughter and with solitude of silence, I find peace
Freedom that would have never been and the love of life that comes from it,
Weep to another for what would ever be sensible in the impossible…

Sitting by the fire, smelling the wood burn
At the edge the ocean that rests in the middle of the desert
Cold wind blowing through me, filling my senses with the fire warmth
I use my imagination in my animal state, human form
Contaminated and wasting away from our modern addictions
Stars illuminate to be my candlesticks
Staring down the table and into my own darkness
Except for the blueberries that seem to melt into the edges of the horizon
The water rises, time seems frozen from the look of fear
And the salty sorrow dripping from the mermaids eyes
Unborn children looking down into their unknown future
Becoming slaves to food, clothing and shelter
From those who demand respect for a life that was never wanted
Only to be judged for the cruelness that life has made of them
