Me... and that's about it. Oh, and my laptop contributes too, but usually gets pissed before a show and refuses to go on stage. I play with various people where and when I can. Peter McIver is my main collaborator at the moment, check his page, he is wicked. I have a cover band with my two good mates Kristian and Pete and we play good old time sing alongs.
Influences
Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Mum, Air, Portishead, Beatles, Coldplay, Simon and Garfunkel, Emiliana Torrini, Sarah Blasko (I love these two voices), The Album Leaf, Muse, Pink Floyd, Grandaddy, Augie March, Bloc Party, Brian Eno (cos he taught me to appreciate synths), Decoder Ring, Crowded House, Neil Finn, Elliot Smith etc.
Reluctantly I learned the organ at the age of seven with my sister, but our lessons consisted of us terrorizing our teacher, the brilliant Peter Waterman, threatening to flush his keys down the toilet etc. I wouldn't say that I was a very inspired student of music at this point, but at least I learnt how to read music. Like every Australian student, I had recorder lessons at primary school which led nowhere, unless you count backwards as a direction. The sound of thirty slightly out of tune recorders wailing three blind mice is virtually a snapshot of my life as a ten year old.
Then came high school. I had every intention of learning the saxophone, I guess because of Kirk Pengilly, then at the orientation day I saw the Trombone teacher playing in a demo band. Something about it drew me in. Maybe it was the harem of women I envisaged following me around, marvelling at my knowledge of 5th intervals on each position of the slide. Surprisingly, this scenario is yet to present itself. Anyway, I spent five years learning classical 'bone, mumbling curses under my breath as I watched the queue of young girls, giggling nervously around the sax players.
Somewhere along the line, I picked up the guitar, mainly because everyone else in my family played and I didn't want to be left out of the family sing alongs. I also returned to the keyboard, but this time it was the good old fashioned piano, and drove everyone one in my family mad because I would come home from school, dump my bag on the ground and play "The Entertainer" for about an hour. My brother in law still breaks out in a sweat whenever he hears any Ragtime tune.
When school finished, I guess I became cool enough in my sister's eyes that she asked me to play gigs with her. We were Ray, a brother/sister act of some note, we had regular gigs around the universities of Adelaide, and at a now defunct but at the time very cool little restaurant called the Hors Deourve. I started a cover band with some friends from school that we took just a little too seriously. We would constantly rehearse and from memory, I believe we played the sum total of three gigs, none of which were paid. We had a variety of different names, the two main (and awful) ones were This Gallery and Oliver Cromwell's Willy.
Anyway, this is dragging on way too long now, so in a nutshell, formed cover band from the ashes of This Gallery, continued to write uninspiring teen angst pap, joined various bands, studied Music Technology at uni, discovered electronics, and we basically end up at this point. I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
How have you been? What have you been up to lately?
I've been locked up in the stuffy studio for the past few weeks and today decided to get some fresh air in the virtual world. (Absurd, huh?) Back in January you had mentioned that you'd look forward to hearing more music. If that's still the case... I just posted something new yesterday in a video. It's different from what we normally do because it's a cover and because it's just my voice and no instruments. But I had fun imitating instruments and trying to make it sound like the whole band was playing.
Little One just draws me in. It's like that feeling you get when you go over an unexpected bump in the road and leave your stomach behind for a second. Great stuff, super feel.
Thanks so much for sharing such great music with the world. And also for leaving such kind words behind on our page.
hey there! I’m opening up the evening solo at the ‘Hope Diamond’ CD launch, they are my old bergerac chums and an amazing band. Doors are at 9pm, I’ll be on about 9:30 & would love to see you there! Zac x

Thank you for supporting Fair Play For Live Entertainment Venues.
We are now progressing toward the second stage of our campaign, which is to build on the political support we’re currently receiving. If you’d like to help us we could really use true stories of the effect of pokies on South Australia’s live entertainment industry, displacement of live music etc. Perhaps you have a story or stories about the effect of pokies on you as an entertainer/band. Or maybe a story from the perspective of an audience member. Or of course as a live entertainment venue owner. Politicians like evidence and your stories will provide anecdotal evidence. Please send all stories to Monty at venuelobby@mail.com
Check out my page! I pimped it out and now it rocks. The song playing is by Fi Claus (Gilly's sister in law) and the bloke singing in the background is Pete Murray. She's got really nice stuff....check it out on her page! And can you send my frickin' phone charger back that i asked for a week and a half ago???? Thanks.... XOX
