About me:
Hi. My name is Christopher Lopez and I'm a writer. Sounds kinda like an introduction to an AA meeting, doesn't it? Well, I stand by it. Like any other vice, its call is a powerful compulsion, and like many writers, I take my vices seriously. But not too seriously. That kind of thinking will drive you crazy.
I've been making a go at this fiction thing for close to two years and I've had some decent success thus far. I'm 2 for 2 in L. Ron Hubbard's Writers of the Future Contest, earning honorable mention for my Sci-Fi novelettes, "Beneath the Burning Sun" and "Tangieran Dream". My dark fantasy short, "The Vampire Princess of Su'un Aamon" landed me 2nd place in Fantasy Gazetteer's January '08 contest. And I've gotten a couple of my shorts about things that go bump in the night published too. "The Quiet Garden" appeared in The Far Side of Midnight and "Vacancy" made it into Demon Minds' Spring '08 anthology.
But what I'm most excited to announce is my recently signed publishing deal for my first book, "Everything Howls", slated for release between fall 2010 and early 2011. More on this later.
And, of course, I would be remiss if I failed to mention my work as a music writer, which appears in the Miami New Times and Broward Palm Beach New Times, frequently in the form of articles and interviews, and multiple times weekly in their music blog, Crossfade.

There's even a website devoted just to the book, with an interactive map of the places and characters at www.the13th-horror.com.
Edward Lee called THE 13TH "A double-barreled shotgun blast of macabre entertainment -- an expert amalgamation of grotesquerie, eroticism, mystery, and pitch-black occult horror that no fan of the genre can miss."
And Gary A. Braunbeck said, "John Everson's The 13th is the first out-and-out horror novel in a long while to actually scare the **** out of me while reading it. It's stylish, extremely well-written, filled with richly-drawn characterizations, and boasts a labyrinthine plot worthy of Umberto Eco. Trust me -- this one will fry your nerves and break your heart."

(see my blog for details):
CHRISTMAS SUNG SIMPLY
As gospellers have said,
Beneath signalling skies,
On land dusty to tread,
A trough in a stable
Was the strawy first-bed
Of a divine baby -
The forgiving Godhead.
A season for new hope -
There then and here now;
The yuletide of goodwill -
There then and here now.
In respect of this chance,
Beneath bright or dark skies,
Faith's the star that we glance
Attending Christ's churches
And trying to enhance,
With singing and ritual,
Our God-loving stance.

This compendium of illiterations, art, literature and journalism is a compost pile of fermenting illiterati to toss onto the garden of your imagination to further fertilize it to yield a bounty of ideas and free thought. It breaks rules as it does not recognize good grammer in some instances as the final authority over random thought. The words and art herein hopefully fall from an imaginary pinata as delightful and delicious candy

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse
(please see my blog):
TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare;
Sea, country and works scent the air;
A multitude of monuments,
Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls;
The remnants of defensive walls;
"Broken-roofed buildings" are a gauge
Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields;
Estuaries guarded by shields;
Long sandy beaches and wide scenes;
Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees,
Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries,
And crossed by practical delights -
Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham;
Football kits ad infinitum;
Kept castles - one for study;
Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way,
It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
