"Maute's tone and technique are on par to the kind of which you just have to stare and when he's done, you just say “wow”. Dave Weiner

"Chris Maute is one of the best Bass players I have come across in this crazy place, the music biz. He is a player that has the chops to match anyone but what gets me is his feel and his playing comes from the heart!" Rob Balducci
Favored Nations Artist, Ibanez Endorsee

"If Sly Stone had a bastard child with Billy Sheehan, it would be Chris Maute. Chris's sound is an explosive load of slap-pop madness." Ethan Meixsell

Frank Zappa once poigniantly, if not sarcastically, asked “Does Humor Belong in Music?”
Chris Mauté says "HELL YES!”
A self-proclaimed chunky-butt-funky-bass-playing-monkey, Reverend Mauté (yes, he is ordained) is looking for converts to his Church of Funk. The trinity of "Clap your hands", "stomp your feet" and "shake yo rump" is his offering of salvation from scowling angst-ridden whining. He offers an old school taste of in-your-face funk bass.
There will be no shoe-gazing as Mauté doles out generous portions of what he holds most dear: a goulash of bass-driven songs devoted to singing, dancing, and, of course, the filthy nasty.
Ready for a funk injection?
It cures the soul.
After a stint at the Bass Institute of Technology in Hollywood, CA, he came to the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. Under the tutelage and inspiration of Gerald Veasley, he was educated in the ways of improvisation, jazz, theory and harmony, which, along with an unorthodox slap and finger technique, has shaped and defined his current sound.
Mauté is currently the bassist for Dave Weiner (Favored Nations Recording Artist and touring member of the Steve Vai band)
That's a nasty clip you have up there. All balls and attitude. Can't wait for you guys to get down here this Summer. It will be explosive...suck my big black stuff.
Thanks for the add and support. The Full length will be out in about one month. Stay tuned for that. I'll make sure to let you know when its out. Take care. -Chris/STS
