About me:
Hi, I'm Chris. I've recently finished a PhD in computational chemistry and am now living with my girlfriend in Edinburgh. I'm also something of an aspiring travel writer and have recently published my first travelogue. It's called "Kilimanjaro: Hakuna Matata" and tells the story of my recent trip to climb Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. I'd like to think it would be pretty useful to anyone planning to climb Kilimanjaro, as well as being a good read in its own right.
Any money that I receive from sales of the book is going to be donated to the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project, an excellent cause dedicated to helping the Tanzanians without whom the climb would be impossible. You can find out more at my website: www.kilimanjaro-hakuna-matata.com.
I'm also currently running a literary project called "I want a word". The idea is that 10,000 people will each pay £1 for the right to contribute a word of their choice. Then, when all 10,000 words have been contributed, I'll take these words, add a few of my own and create a single, coherent story. It's going to be quite a challenge, but I'm looking forward to it!
If you're interested in contributing, or finding out more about it, visit the website at www.iwantaword.com.
This is the cover of my first novel, which I published quite recently. You can find out more about it (and buy a copy!) at www.lulu.com/christopherbaker, or you can read the first two chapters here. If you'd like to kepp track of my exploits, and various writing projects, check out my blog.

Who I'd like to meet:
Anyone's who's interested in contributing to I want a word, anyone who likes writing and anyone who's read my book! Please let me know what you thought...
