Christopher Tin's debut album 'Calling All Dawns' is now available at www.christophertin.com. Declared 'one of the best world music albums of the decade' (Higher Plain Music), it features guest performances by some of the greatest voices in classical and world music, including the Soweto Gospel Choir, Frederica von Stade, Dulce Pontes, Sussan Deyhim, Anonymous 4, Lia, and many more, backed up by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and recorded at Abbey Road Studios.
'Calling All Dawns' is a cycle of 12 songs in 12 different languages, each song flowing seamlessly to the next. The album is structured in three movements--day, night, and dawn--which collectively chart the cycle of life as it progresses from life, to death, to rebirth. The songs themselves draw from both sacred and secular texts, ranging from the Torah and Bhagavad Gita to Japanese haiku and Maori proverbs.
Hi, just wanted to stop by and let you know that the album is amazing. My high school choir, right before i graduated about 2 years ago now i think, performed Baba Yetu and nobody in there knew who you were, they just knew the song. I spent a lot of time explaining to them who you were and how talented you were and everyone kind of just blew it off but now I have proof to play for them and they can't deny it. I just wanted to let you know that out of hundreds of bands/artists I listen to you are easily in my top 5. I haven't heard music this real in a long time.
Absolutely! I am all about giving credit where credit is due. And you have earned it above and beyond any twits/tweets or blogs I could post but I know that most of my friends trust my taste in music and word of mouth is the best selling tool.
I must have listened to the entire album about 20 times now and I can't say I have a favorite. Keep up the amazing work!
I can't believe I missed your CD release... But I am so glad it is now available... I just purchased the CD/MP3 copy and am about to enjoy it thoroughly. It will accompany my study of Earth Science quite well. Be blessed! And keep up the great work!
hey i bet you dont remember me im the one who said you should check out eddie covarrubias on here, cuz his piano plus your orchestra would produce music so beautiful the world would all cry for at least a week..and also he had his choir classes at school sing baba yetu and it was so nice i didnt want it ever to be over..

Thanks very much for friendship... I like this opportunity to share our worlds... The Life of a man is made up of a series of dreams which write our history, as well as our children, who then start to write their own. I decided to continue writing mine as soon as I began to dream in early childhood. One doesn't need to stop the journey along the way. It is necessary to believe that the stars which light our way will never go out, and to continue to follow our dreams which inspire us in the most beautiful moments of our lives. If not, why is my star helping me to write so many fine melodies? I composed a suite for my dream, called " Melody for an Oscar", and I am convinced that one day someone will help me to reach for that Oscar in Hollywood, which I have always imagined in my dreams. No matter what, my dreams have enhanced my musical creativity, and for that I am thankful. Didier EUZET

I am listening to Madokara Mieru for like the billionth time while slaving away at work and I was reminded of the first impression I got of the song before I knew what the language or meaning was...
I have this very vivid vision of it being like a freedom song for the Hebrew slaves. Or even those that were made to build the pyramids. I see these shots of grandiose fly by's all of them laboring away and singing together.
The instrumental version makes me think of it as more of a type of short film of the life of Moses... Being born, traveling down a river in a basket, being raised an egyptian, killing an egyptian guard, being forced from his home... then being given the command to go back and free the Hebrews... very Ten Commandments...esque
It is truly grand. I love how music can influence such imagery... especially yours!
Baba Yetu is probably the most emotionally felt song I ever heard, and I don't even know what the words mean. Truely a masterpeice, that can only come from the heart. If your ever in the nieghborhood, i promise to come see the show =D.
