Saxophonist Chris Veilleux received his bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies from Northern Illinois University. While living in the Chicago area, he performed with many professional groups such as the Glenn Miller Orchestra, The John Bernett Orchestra, and Chicago's leading salsa merengue band, Banda Rika. As a classical saxophonist Veilleux has performed with The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra several times under the direction of Carmen DeLeon, and once with guest artist Lou Marini. Chris is also a recipient of Downbeat magazine's 26th annual student music award under the category of Best College Chamber Music Group for a classical saxophone quartet recording.
Currently, Chris is living in Boston and is working on several of his own creative music projects including Industrious Noise. The group's debut CD, Trio, will be released fall 2006 on Creative Nation Music. Chris is also a member of Charlie Kohlhase's Saxophone Support Group, Jerry Sabatini's Sonic Explorers and a collaborative soprano sax duo project with Dan Blake. Veilleux is currently enrolled at the New England Conservatory and is working on his master's degree in Creative Improvisation (Third Stream).
Chris, once again great job the other night. The clips sound great here too! I'm so bummed at having to wait to find out now; it's probably gonna make me lose my mind. When do Ran's classes meet on Tuesdays?
Hey! Good to hear from you!! Yeah, that Bears game gave both me and Rich an ulcer. This season hasn't been good for our health- hopefully next year will be better. I still can't believe the Pats clinched already!
We miss you, too! We saw Moe last weekend and had a Stone/ Bratt Big Band recording session. Wish you could have been 1st alto! I am second alto. Remember U-Jazz? It was a blast (for me)!
:Yo Chris, beautiful playing last night, you sound killing as always! Should have belted out those vocals when you were feelling it! Till next time, peace, Jared
