Press Release:
Launching this spring, "Out of Africa Part One" is the debut EP from George Panda, a virtuoso drummer who brings drumming from it's often background role to centre-stage. His compositions blend his African heritage (Sierra Leone), with his other loves; latin and jazz.
Compositions coming from the perspective of the drummer, give this music a unique and interesting angle not often heard. The drums not only inspired the melody lines, but are also played in a very melodic way, giving a sound reminiscent of the complex polyphony of West African music.
This EP is sure to make waves with the fresh originality of the music, and the vibrant performances of the musicians, Serge Ngando-Double Bass (Cameroon), Jonathan Idiagbonya-Piano (Nigeria) and vocalist Nuala Dalton (Ireland).
The EP will be available to download January 2011
