lives in zurich/switzerland. he works/tours as a musician and is regular lecturer on saxophone and improvisation at the zurich university of arts.
he studied with andy scherrer, sal nistico, jerry bergonzi, joe lovano, and dave liebman. while being an active member of both the swiss jazz and the live-electronic scene, he played with ray anderson, wolfgang muthspiel, irene schweizer, joe beck, mark egan, danny gottlieb, louis sclavis, frank moebus, axel doerner, burhan oecal, harald haerter etc.
as a composer and leader/coleader he performs with CRYPTIC BLUES, KOJ and NEUROMODULATOR. in addition he plays in some working bands (e.g. zurich jazz orchestra, elmar frei sextett, contemparabic jazz ensemble, beestreet, lukas bitterlin quartett) and works as a freelance musician.
the last couple of years, besides developing as a saxophonist, he is doing a lot of research on creating soundmachines out of hacked toys. he uses them live in his electronic projects.
