Christy Jefferson & Vogon Poetry (formerly Christy Jefferson & The Core Four) is a fresh original band that delivers a feaverishly fun, intensely rockin show. With vocals that are both edgy and lush, and heart pounding rhythms, the band is notorious for getting audiences out of their seats and singing along with their catchy hooks.
The band was recently featured on Philadelphia area television staion 6 ABC's music segment 'Tuned In' (which also featured Paula Cole). You can watch the 6ABC segment (and additional clips of Christy & Vogon Poetry’s performance) online at: www.6ABC.com (then click on Entertainment, and then on the ‘Tuned In’ Tab.) Here are pix from the taping at our live Tin Angel show:
Other recent accolades include an unlikely, yet highly praised opening performance for country rocker Trent Tomlinson (for which the band was called back for an encore); and an acclaimed performance at Musikfest (Bethlehem, PA) for which the band was listed by Merge Magazine among the top 10 performers out of the hundreds of acts -- including nationals: Heart, KC and the Sunshine Band, Melissa Etheridge, the Blues Brothers, Michelle Branch, etc. Members of Christy Jefferson & Vogon Poetry have opened up for KANSAS, Steve Kimock, the Kennedys, Jeffrey Gaines, John Eddie, Jen Chapin, Darcie Miner, and others. Blue Oyster Cult guitarist rocker Buck Darhma contributed guitar leads to early demos that Christy worked on with producer and former member of Our Daughter's Wedding, Scott Simon (whose own accolades include touring with U2 and Duran Duran in the early 80's.)
Currently, Vogon Poetry is in the studio with Christy acting as the session band for her next album, which is being produced by Shelly Yakus who has worked with U2, John Lennon, Stevie Nix, Tom Petty.... The album will be released in late '08 or early '09. They have already released a single off the forth coming album entitled WHAM DUNK SLIM BAM. The single is available as a digital download only on this myspace page thru the SNOCAP store front. Vogon Poetry has been the steady studio band for Christy's past few albums, including most notably 'Living Curiously', which was produced in part by Harrisburg’s own award winning producer, Jason Rubal (Dresden Dolls, Showin' Tell, etc.), and also in part by Richard Blakin whose credits include Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon. Several tracks off 'Living Curiously' won international song contests for spots on compilation CDs that are bringing the group international recognition. All Christy’s music is available online through itunes, CD Baby, and through Christy’s web site: www.christyjefferson.com
Christy tours continuously, performing her music in solo, duo, and full band format at clubs, restaurants, cafes, colleges / universities, house concerts, wineries, festivals, on radio, and on TV -- often in intimate settings and sometimes for audiences of thousands. Her full performance schedule is detailed on her official site: www.christyjefferson.com. Video of Christy performing her opening set for Kansas back in 2007 can be seen on YouTube. Christy sang her way out of a speeding ticked en route to Nashville a few year ago. Unfortunately, we don't have any footage of that at all... although, a reenactment may be in order.
