Hakkımda:

I'm a grad student, a teacher, a singer, and a writer. You can check out the group I sing with at www.paradigmvocalensemble.org.

You should also check out my personal journal, my photos, my 43 Things, and my books. I'm also starting up a new blog (this one not limited to fashion blogging like the last one, but more general in outlook) and a new etsy shop where I'll be selling vintage and cool thrifted clothes and jewelry at first, branching out eventually into handmade stuff as well.

You Are Lisa Simpson
A total child prodigy and super genius, you have the mind for world domination.

But you prefer world peace, Buddhism, and tofu dogs.

You will be remembered for: all your academic accomplishments

Your life philosophy: "I refuse to believe that everybody refuses to believe the truth."

Only hatred shocks me. If we can love a date palm or a puppy or a cyborg, perhaps we can love each other better also.
Marge Piercy, He, She, and It

We're as ephemeral as raindrops. We all fall, and we all land somewhere.
Robert Charles Wilson, Spin

When people come to understand how big the universe is and how short a human life is, their hearts cry out. Sometimes it's a shout of joy: I think that's what it was for Jason; I think that's what I didn't understand about him. He had the gift of awe. But for most of us it's a cry of terror. The terror of extinction, the terror of meaninglessness. Our hearts cry out. Maybe to God, or maybe just to break the silence.
Robert Charles Wilson, Spin

Now you tell me that enchanted frogs turn into princes, that frogesses under a spell turn into princesses. What of it? Romance is bad for the mind. . . . After all, why slander frogs? Princes and princesses are fools. They do nothing interesting in your stories. They are not even real.
Joanna Russ, The Female Man

INTERVIEWER: It seems odd to all of us, Miss Evason, that in venturing into such--well, such absolutely unknown territory--that you should have come unarmed with anything except a piece of string. Did you expect us to be peaceful?
JE: No. No one is, completely.
INTERVIEWER: Then you should have armed yourself.
JE: Never.
INTERVIEWER: But an armed person, Miss Evason, is more formidable than one who is helpless. An armed person more readily inspires fear.
JE: Exactly.
Joanna Russ, The Female Man

The world is a mess and I just need to rule it.
Dr. Horrible (Neil Patrick Harris), Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog..

The Martians discovered the secret of life among animals. The animal does not question life. It lives. Its very reason for living is life; it enjoys and relishes life. . . . And the men of Mars realized that in order to survive they would have to forgo asking that one question any longer: Why live? Life was its own answer. Life was the propagation of more life and the living of as good a life as possible. . . . They quit trying too hard to destroy everything, to humble everything. They blended religion and art and science because, at base, science is no more than an investigation of a miracle we can never explain, and art is an interpretation of that miracle. They never let science crush the aesthetic and the beautiful.
Ray Bradbury, The Martian Chronicles

People pay for what they do, and still more for what they have allowed themselves to become, and they pay for it very simply by the lives they lead.
James Baldwin

You shouldn't ever be too arrogant or too loud about who you are. I don't think I believe in God, but I believe in forces. And they're nosy. Don't tell them you're here. Don't light any bonfires. Walk in the shadows and you walk forever.
Susan Power, The Grass Dancer

See, it is always now. . . . The past, the future, all of it is wrapped up in the now. That's how it is. We are trapped in the now.
Sherman Alexie, The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fist Fight in Heaven

A life might be short or a life might be long; duration mattered little. What did matter was how one lived until one died.
Leslie Marmon SIlko, Almanac of the Dead

Your life feels different on you, once you greet death and understand your heart's position. You wear your life like a garment from the mission bundle sale ever after--lightly because you realize you never paid nothing for it, cherishing because you know you won't ever come by such a bargain again.
Louise Erdrich, Love Medicine

It’s not what you look like or what planet you were born on, it’s how kind you are. The quality of kindness to me distinguishes us from rocks and sticks and metal and will forever, whatever shape we take, wherever we go, whatever we become.
--Philip K. Dick

You don't have anything
if you don't have the stories
--Leslie Marmon Silko, Ceremony

The most violent element in society is ignorance.
--Emma Goldman

When you punish a person for dreaming his dream,
Don't expect him to thank or forgive you.
--John Darnielle/The Mountain Goats, "The Best Ever Death Metal Band In Denton"

When it comes to racism, people say, "I don't care if they're black, white, purple, or green." Aw, hold on now--purple or green? You gotta draw the line somewhere. To hell with purple people--unless they're suffocating. Then help them.
--Mitch Hedburg

13 is an unlucky number. If 13's unlucky, then so should the letter B be, 'cause B looks like a scrunched together 13.
--Mitch Hedburg

I like parties, but I don't like pinatas. Because they promote violence against flamboyant animals.
--Demetri Martin

Kimle tanışmak isterim:

Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert. I like a good smartass.

Also, John Darnielle. (The Mountain Goats, yum.)

Hahaha! Yes, quilting is not an option. The combination of various colors and patterns may create mass chaos and confusion and eventually lead to blindness.
    :-) Too funny!!!
