Chris van der Merwe Blog 1 - Acoustic gigs in New York City
Things you may not know about Chris van der Merwe that you will learn in this Bio:
Chris van der Merwe was born in South Africa.
When he grew up, the young Chris wanted to be like Billy Idol and Michael Jackson - so his parents sent him to piano lessons (go figure!)
He started learning to play the guitar at the end of high school during the one month that the students were allowed to stay at home and prepare themselves for the exam. Learning to play the guitar seemed like more fun. He still did pass.
He once sang in the school Christmas choir to get 3 free hot-dogs (Chris' mom doesn't allow her children to eat junk food)
He only started singing to amuse his friends on Friday nights down by the river, freestyling Hiphop in between beers.
He used to be the vocalist of the Ska/Punk band Tha Flow.
He skates worse than he surfs - but he's skated for longer.
