REVIEWS & INTERVIEWS
Reporting exclusively for UlsterMusic.com, Iain Todd takes a shine to the rocking Chrome Horse…
It seems that there are two kinds of bands in this world: the ones who exist in order to seemingly squeeze every penny out of their music and out of the people who listen to it, and the ones who exist in order to write and perform their own music for whoever wants to listen. Chrome Horse are luckily in the latter group and, without an ounce of hyperbole, also happen to be the best unsigned Northern Irish band I have ever seen. Read more... Iain Todd - UlsterMusic.com
So, you used to ride on your Chrome Horse with your diplomat, who had on his shoulder a Siamese cat, eh? Well, how does it
feel? Er, sorry...It's tough to get away from a Dylan reference without breaking, just like a little girl. Dammit!
Surprisingly, at least for this reviewer, Chrome Horse sound nothing like His Bobness at all. Instead, they're a full on
rock'n'roll band with down'n'dirty guitars, pounding drums, cheeky organ swirls and some great lyrics – all of which makes me
love this record. The sound is reminiscent of the kind of ballsy garage-punk-rawk played by The D4 and their ilk, which ain't
no bad thing as far as I'm concerned. Songs From The Last Revolution is available for free download from ReverbNation –
but I would've loved it even if you lot had to pay for it.

...if that's put you in the mood to seek out some more weapons grade left of the dial tunage, don't miss the debut LP Songs
From The Last Revolution by Chrome Horse, a fantastic garage rock combo from down Mexico way.
These guys are clearly nuts, because they are giving away this 11 song album online for absolutely nowt via their page at
ReverbNation One of their northern representatives
thrust a proper CD copy at me a couple of days ago and
it has now usurped The Scream as my driving music of choice.
It's a thrilling Farfisa soaked rock 'n' roll racket from start to finish, with the likes of Pigsty Groove, Antifreeze and
Wall Of Death guaranteed to provoke major speed infractions from even the safest of motorists.
Death Row is probably one of the best psyche-pop tunes to come out of Ireland or anywhere else this century. Don't believe
me? Well download it for yourself, Mr Sceptic - it's free!

In many ways rock bands are only as good as their frontman. With that in mind, Chrome Horse must be counting their blessings
for having a stellar singer such as Tony Villiers in their number. Villiers' '70's-inspired vocals sound like melted
chocolate and the band's Deep Purple-esque tunes are fist in the air, defiantly traditional rock songs that stomp and riff
with the best of them. While we get the feeling that Chrome Horse would sound a million times better live than on record, the
organ-fuelled, amped-up fury of 'Cousin Tom' and 'Antifreeze' are pretty much perfect slices of rock 'n' roll. Fans of
Hellacopters and Buckcherry will lap this up.
