Harry Potter. dessert. makeup. shopping. bloody marys. Star Wars. music. long baths. psychology. black dresses. dragons. TV on DVD. plants. sudoku.
Music
I enjoy a pretty wide variety of music. I have stong opinions about what's good and even stronger opinions about what's not. I'm constantly exploring new music for myself -- that's not new as in recent, but new to me. I hate practically everything on the radio today, and live a bit in the past musically. Some of my favorites are: A Perfect Circle. Bauhaus. Concrete Blond. Dead Can Dance. Depeche Mode. Echo and the Bunnymen. Johnny Cash. Loreena McKennitt. Love and Rockets. Massive Attack. Ministry. Nellie McKay. Nine Inch Nails. Nitzer Ebb. Orgy. Peter Hutchins. Peter Murphy. Phil Collins. Poe. Puscifer. Sarah McLaughlin. Siouxsie and the Banshees. Sisters of Mercy. Social Distortion. Switchblade Symphony. The Church. The Cure. The Smiths. Tool.
Movies
I like movies. I like movies that critics say are bad movies. If you can get me to sit down and watch something, I'll probably like it. Now if I could just remember them once I'm finished with them.....
Television
I don't watch a lot of TV. I find that I usually have trouble sitting down long enough to actually watch something all the way through. I DO love Scrubs though, and I'll watch it anytime I see it on. I also share a couple of guilty pleasures with a friend. Hi Camille!!!
Books
Well, I'm kind of a nerd. I have (of course) read every Harry Potter book (at least twice). I read from the Star Wars series. Right now I'm reading "War of the Worlds," and I have about a zillion books on my reading list including those my family gave me for Christmas: My fine, republican parents were kind enough to get me "Dreams from My Father" and "The Audacity of Hope" by Barack Obama. My brother gave me "The 12-Step Bush Recovery Program." :) I also got four sci-fi/steampunk books and "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking-Glass" out of a giftcard from Gloria. Thanks guys! I'll be busy all year when it'll be time for MORE! :) :) :)
Heroes
Everyone in my life who has helped me keep my sanity at one time or another. Love you guys!
About me: 1. I have an irrational fear of ceiling vents and other such fixtures in public restrooms. What do I think they're going to do? Fall on my head???
2. I love, love, love sweets... to the point that I have almost no willpower when it comes to them. Those of you who know me well know this, and have seen it in action. I don't want to eat three brownies, but I can't not do it.
3. I, like most mothers, think that my kiddo is the smartest, funniest and best looking kiddo ever. (I appologize to those of you with children... :)
4. The best part of my day is sitting at the dinner table with my little family. They make me so happy, and it's nice to have at least that part of the day with them consistently.
5. I will never, for the life of me, understand people who NEED to be different, and then draw attention to how "weird" or "strange" they are. If you're weird and strange people will notice. Trust me.
6. One of my all time favorite movies has been for some time, and will remain to be, Zoolander.
7. I dislike going to the gym. A lot. But I force myself to go nearly everyday because of random fact number 2.
8. I'm currently deconstructing watch movements for a necklace for my steampunk costume because buying one that someone else made makes me feel less genuine somehow.
9. I've never really been political in my life until the last year or so at which point I started beating my loved ones to death with my political views. Something about the failure of the past administration and the hope of the campaign forced me to want to be part of the success of the new administration and made me care more than I ever thought possible.
10. I like to read... just finished H.G. Wells "War of the Words". Currently reading his "The Time Machine" and "The Invisible Man." Next up??? Jules Verne!
11. I share a guilty pleasure with an unnamed friend. We watch Project Runway and (eek) America's Next Top Model together every week when they're on.
12. My feet are entirely too small for the rest of my body. Therefore, I trip and fall... a lot.
13. I've learned to fall asleep on the couch in the same room with noisy men who are playing video games or poker. It's a talent.
14. I hate the sound of other people chewing, slurping, gulping etc. so much that I actually have internal fits of violence when I hear these thing. Ditto for animals cleaning themselves. I know it's crazy, but I can't help it. My family (and animals, respectively) have learned not to do these things near me.
15. I make childlike exclamations a lot. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!! I feel that having a child means that this is acceptable.
16. I sing in the car. Loudly. And a lot.
17. I like chick flicks more than I let on. It's nice to have someone to watch them with.
18. Sometimes when Joe's playing his football video games, I end up cheering for the team he's on. It has kept me from reading.
19. I love my friends. They keep me sane.
20. I have recently developed, also due to an unnamed friend, a near obsession with tiny hats. I must have more of them.
21. I have learned that it is easier to sing in front of 500 people than it is to sing in front of five.
22. I can pop most any joint in my body. It's awesome and terrible.
23. I'm very, very limber.
24. It is one of my biggest desires to travel the world.
25. I'm about to eat the remaining brownies in my house. (I'll go to the gym tomorrow, don't worry!)
