About me:
When David first picked up his father's acoustic guitar at 14 and learned Chuck Berry's Johnny B. Goode, he never imagined it would be the climax of a nightly act. Now 20 years and many Chuck Berry songs later, David realizes that rock 'n' roll music never got better than the way Chuck played it. David Callender has devoted himself to paying homage to Chuck's living legend with his own tribute act - Monkey Business.
David has studied the musical, vocal and theatrical stylings of Chuck and when he performs, every guitar lick, sequined shirt and duckwalk is authentic. He and his 6-piece outfit, Monkey Business have won the adoration of many a Chuck Berry enthusiast and David is quickly establishing himself as the only known Chuck Berry tribute artist in North America. His shows are full of high energy quality entertainment that keep his audience smiling as David hams it up in true Chuck form. He has made his annual Hail, Hail Rock and Roll Chuck Berry Birthday Bash, a widely anticipated celebration in Toronto.
"My work is pure pleasure", says David. "I've never met anyone in my life that wasn't a Chuck Berry fan even if they didn't know it until I sing his numerous hits. The only thing I fear is breaking a string cuz you can't play Chuck's tunes with five of 'em. Believe me, I've tried!"
