IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER

This is the only MySpace page officially affiliated with Chuck Palahniuk. This profile exists in relation with Chuck Palahniuk's official website at ChuckPalahniuk.net. Chuck does not administer this MySpace page nor the ChuckPalahniuk.net website. It was created and is webmastered, with Chuck's clearance and blessing, by myself, Dennis Widmyer. Furthermore, Chuck doesn't read any of the messages or comments on this page, so when you write to him, you're actually writing to me.

The Cult Writers Workshop is an unparalleled opportunity for all writers to improve upon their craft by submitting original work for peer review and critique. How it works is, you sign up for ..Premium Membership.. and then you read and review other stories in the Workshop, which earns you points. Once you have enough points, you submit your own work for peer feedback, as well as a chance to have it read and reviewed by Chuck Palahniuk himself!

-------------------------------

New Tshirts are available for the upcoming 'Pygmy' tour! You may remember that we did this last year and the year before, for 'Snuff' and 'Rant' (respectively). We initially held off on making these, due to the fact that Chuck is only doing five stops on this tour. But then three more stops got added to Canada and we suddenly had 8 cities that we could list on the back of the shirt.

-------------------------------

A couple years back, we had a beloved section on the site called Palahniuk-esque Authors.  With the help of people like Will Tupper, this section became a mecca on The Cult, where fans of Chuck could explore authors that might fall into the same category of literature. Unfortunately, this section didn't quite survive Drupal.  But it has now returned, with a vengeance... and it's brought some old friends.

Palahiuk-esque has become Palahniukian Authors.  We also have a general Book Recommendations section that is broken down into the following sub-categories:

Chuck Approved: Books that Chuck Palahniuk personally recommends.
Staff Favorites: Books that we recommend.  (expect this to grow and become more personalized, with individual Staff Rec pages.
Member Favorites: As you can now comment on and review books in this section, we have a way to filter the top rated books.
Book Club Selections: Our ever popular Book Club gets some love, as all the past monthly entries are featured here.

Buy your Amazon shit from ChuckPalahniuk.net!

I'll also mention that, every item that is purchased within these pages, earns us a small commission from Amazon.com.  This may not sound that important, but we honestly don't make much income from this site.  So every little bit helps.  Even if you follow a link into Amazon directly through one of our pages and end up buying something unrelated, we still earn a commission.  So you're really helping us keep the site alive.

For those of you that already have Amazon bookmarked in your browser, please change the URL of your bookmark to this: http://amazon.com/o/redirect-home/officchuckpalaha

Chuck Palahniuk's next book will be "Pygmy." It's not due in stores until May 5, 2009. But here is the official:

"Begins here first account of operative me, agent number 67 on arrival midwestern American airport greater _____ area. Flight _____. Date _____. Priority mission top success to complete. Code name: Operation Havoc."

Thus speaks Pygmy, one of a handful of young adults from a totalitarian state sent to the United States, disguised as exchange students, to live with typical American families and blend in, all the while planning an unspecified act of massive terrorism. Palahniuk depicts Midwestern life through the eyes of this thoroughly indoctrinated little killer, who hates us with a passion, in this cunning double-edged satire of an American xenophobia that might, in fact, be completely justified. For Pygmy and his fellow operatives are cooking up something big, something truly awful, that will bring this big dumb country and its fat dumb inhabitants to their knees.

It's a comedy.

-------------------------------

Postcards From The Future: The Chuck Palahniuk Documentary takes a look at author Chuck Palahniuk's landmark year of 2003. With back to back books and subsequent tours hitting the public, Chuck's year was filled with success, controversy, and even phenomena. But what many fans don't know is that this entire year kicked off with a mysterious conference held on his work in a small town in Pennsylvania.

-------------------------------

If you or someone you represent is looking to gain exposure for their book, CD, DVD, website or just to promote yourself, then ChuckPalahniuk.net is for you. Since 2005 we have run successful ad campaigns for authors, indie bands and even movies. Our rates are affordable and we offer banners in all sizes, rotations, and placements.

If you're on the fence about what advertising with ChuckPalahniuk.net can do for you, here's a gentle nudge: ChuckPalahniuk.net averages over 54,000 page views a day, from over 5,000 unique visitors. On an average month we have over 1.6 million page views to the site from more than 150,000 unique visitors. Our MySpace bulletin reaches over 46,000 active fans. Our forum (message board) has over 32,000 registered members and counts for over 30% of the hits to our site, making it the most popular section on The Cult. ChuckPalahniuk.net has been featured, reviewed, and plugged in/on the likes of Entertainment Weekly, The New York Times, and the Guardian UK.

-------------------------------

Our New Layout

As many of you have hopefully noticed, we have a new layout! I pitched out a bulletin a few weeks ago, asking for the help from a talented Palahniuk fan to redesign our boring, blue and white MySpace page into something that resembled our actual website, and Preston Jarvis stepped up and hit the ball out of the park.

So a big Thank You to Preston. You did a great job, man. And you should all check Preston's profile out and Add Him... b/c a friend of the Cult's is a friend of yours. ;)

-------------------------------

We want to enlist you all as part of our Cult Army. What's the aim? PROMOTE CHUCK'S OFFICIAL WEBSITE!

With that in mind, we have a collection of banners you can download. Where permitted, post these banners on the net. Forums, blog comments, groups, social networking. There's a ton of places you can do some guerilla marketing. You can also find sites in our demographic and contact the Webmaster to have the banner 'officially' listed, with a link back to our site. And every bit counts.

Who I'd like to meet:

-------------------------------

This page is to promote Chuck Palahniuk and his official website at http://www.chuckpalahniuk.net. It is used primarily as a newsletter to let fans of Chuck know about updates to the site, as well as tour dates, new book releases and more.

Hello Mr. Palahniuk. I'm seventeen years young, and so far I've read Choke, Diary, and I'm currently reading Survivor. Ryan Ross, the guitarist\lyricist in Panic At The Disco is the one who has inspired me to read your novels, because much of Panic's first album was inspired by your words, and Panic is my all time favorite band. I just wanted to say that I love what I've read so far, and you are always able to get me to think about things differently. Thank you for your being. :)
