As a co founder of Public Enemy I've used that platform to transcend beyond what a rapper and a musician can do , taking a forward stance in turning great words into global community action.
Im from Roosevelt Long Island, I guess I found fame as the frontman for Public Enemy, a group known for our revolutionary, pro-black / anti-government lyricism and groundbreaking production. And though often demonized by the media, PE's fiery rhymes and unique stage show won us millions of fans across the globe still to today. Thus on the world platform of Public Enemy , I figure i've amassed a host of accolades as chief writer and centerpoint but as one
of hip-hop's most commanding and instantly recognizable voices, I think its cool to have influenced an entire www.publicenemy.comgeneration of musicians and music followers. My job is to inspire art and artists.
The critical and commercial success of Public Enemy opened the doors for me to deliver a message through a number of different mediums, extending a reach to all segments of the population. I hosted my own segment on the Fox News Channel, published a best-selling autobiography, "Fight The Power." I've been a highly-sought after speaker on the college lecture circuit (lecturing at universities ranging from Harvard to Howard), have been a prominent member of music industry non-profit organizations MusicCares and Rock The Vote (which honored me with the Patrick Lippert Award in 1996 for his contributions to community service) and started the record label SlamJamz.
I served as national spokesperson for Rock The Vote, the National Urban League and the National Alliance of African American Athletes, and appeared in public service announcements for HBO's campaign for national peace and the Partnership for the Drug Free America. I've been a regular guest on numerous television shows including Nightline, Politically Incorrect and on CNN.
For 20 years as a public professional, I have stayed very active, working on a wide range of projects even occasionally still touring the earth as Public Enemy.
These including a solo projects , many guest collaborations, and appearances. I've appeared as spokesperson for the genre for 20 years now. Have started a book imprint OFFDA with partner Yusuf Jah ,my co author in 1997 best seller Fight The Power, we're slating Lyrics Of A Rap Revolutionary for 2007.
This as well writing for various press outlets, radio with my co-host Giana Garel on the Air America Radio network : On The Real sunday nights 11p-1 ,and television guesting, hosting and analysis , scores of various voiceovers in the tv and documentary film world, leading to being a prized speaker and keynoter on the university and business lecture circuit for the past 15 years. Illuminating issues surrounding the millennium mind on the topics of rap, race, reality and technology.
So there it is, as i'm trying to impact beyond the beats and rhymes felt in the world of technology, evidenced in my involvement in the internet launching pro file sharing groundbreaking websites like PublicEnemy.com and Rapstation.com before the turn of the century. And as being one of the main forces behind delivery of music and video on the web, and now Chuck D Mobile, a global audio visual cultural network.
Most of my fledging recording label SlamJamz epitomizes the future with these approaches. This is my reasons to involve myself on MYSPACE to involve and promote artists into well skilled acts. And take global advantage of the earth language of hip hop.
All said and done i'll look to remain a beacon for rap music and'a key dispatcher of information ' through the portal of Hip hop . No doubt , gonna keep grindin to maintain to be one of hip-hop's most important, active, and well-respected figures.

A man died after the media killed him 'bout 15 years ago. I respect that man for all the marvellous talents he had to be the absolutely great artist he was. But, unfortunatley thanks to what he has done to his body, he had to suffer an early death…I hope where he's now he will find peace. And I hope that many people stop follow the media, because the media does not foster artists who realize their own ideas, but boost preformers who do what the media (big business) tells them to do... RIPMJ
God Bless You
PS: I respect all independent artists; it's easier for men to sell his soul than to find himself. An artist realize his own idea, lives and gives his true messages, a performer plays what the masses want or is dictated to hear, it isn't his own idea, that's why he has to sell himself to Babylon System. An artist is a medium out of himself, a perfomer is also a medium but actualy plays for another medium (the media), because he has sold his soul...
