Layout Provided By LayoutsPlus.com - Browse Layouts I was born a musician and artist, into a family of musicians and artists, in a culture of music and art. I have traveled throughout the world -- performing, collaborating and recording, studying, conducting research and collecting instruments -- in England, The Netherlands and Europe, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Kashmir, Nigeria, Brazil, Mexico, Cuba and Indonesia. I was Associate Dean of Students at Antioch College for 17 years and I have been a teacher and trainer/consultant in the United States, Switzerland and the Virgin Islands. I have performed and conducted workshops in ethnomusicology throughout the U.S. mid-west; produced, engineered and hosted jazz radio programs in Yellow Springs/Dayton, Ohio, and Seattle/Bellevue, Washington; and founded and directed various performance ensembles. My visual art has shown in many individual shows and has been selected for inclusion in shows around the country, including featured artist in The Human Face, an exhibit sponsored by the San Marcos Area Arts Council in Texas. For several consecutive years, I have been invited to show in the Edwin T. Pratt Exhibit presented by the Pratt Fine Arts Center. This included the event Windows on Diversity, Our Communities, Our Cultures, in which select artists were given the opportunity to present their work in a display of their own design in a window of the downtown Seattle Bon Marche. In 2000, "Little Brother's Big Shoes" and "Nothing But the Blues" were chosen for the United States Department of State Art in Embassies Program for exhibition in the official U.S. Ambassadorial residence in Mbabane, Swaziland. Through it all, there has been very little distinction, for me, between life and art, between the sounds we hear every day and music. I remain what I have always been -- a full-time artist and musician.
