   About Chuck Jennings
Chuck Jennings honed his interest in music by listening to the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday night after working all week in the family saw mill. His uncle bought him a five-dollar guitar and his brother showed him a few chords. The first song he learned to play was "You Are My Sunshine" on one string. While in the Army in Ft. Smith, Arkansas Chuck met Doug Kershaw. They played the service club on base and many of the local the clubs in and around the Fort Smith area. Chuck went to the Big D Jamboree in 1958 and landed a regular position with the house band. In the 1960s Chuck met a rising young country star Tony Douglas. Chuck and Tony became great friends and that friendship led to Tony recording many of songs that Chuck had written. One song "His and Hers" became a national hit for Tony and several other recording artist in the pop field as well as country. In the 70s Chuck played Grand Ole Opry package shows with many of the big name stars. Chuck began working with Box Car Willie in 1982 and continued for the next fourteen years until his death in 1999. During that time Chuck traveled extensively throughout the United States, 21 foreign countries, and appeared with Box Car regularly on the Grand Ole Opry. Chuck is a multi-award winning singer and guitar player. Although Chuck is semi-retired, he is still singing, playing & writing country and some gospel music with his long time friend Lawton Williams. He also performs for Senior citizens, as his way of returning some of the blessings the Lord has given him. He still performs with stars of the Grand Ole Opry throughout the Southwestern United States.

Hello Chuck,

I just wanted to come by and let you know what an honor it is to have you as a friend on Myspace, but how much more of an honor it is to have you and "Miss" Pat as real friends. It has been such a blessing to get to know you and share the stage with you and your home with you and your family. God bless you all!

Take care,
Mike
