Everything you hear on the tracks posted is me. The current live show is myself on guitar, mandolin, banjo and Chaz Smurlo plays keyboards. We both sing. Chuck uses 16 track recording to add drums, bass and other backing instruments to the mix.
Influences
My musical heroes are: Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Jerry Garcia, and Neil Young. I listen to everything – jazz, blues, all kinds of rock from “The King” to King Crimson, Stax/Motown, p-funk, and country/bluegrass of course. Then I try to ignore it all, because as all my heroes have found – the point is to find your own voice.
I started playing drums at 8. I picked up bass in high school, and have since added guitar, mandolin, banjo, and lap steel. I sing, I compose.
I've played in many bands over the years some are pictured here.
