I am a 'cellist living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I play rhythm and lead 'cello in an Old-time, hillbilly, Americana
string band called Muddy River String Band.
"Hillbilly" Ben Prior is a proud native of the state of Wyoming. After playing the violin for three years, Ben
switched to the 'cello out of pure spite at the age of 15. Ben continued to study classical 'cello for eight years,
until he ran away from home and joined the circus. After a twelve year absence from playing a musical instrument, Ben
once again picked up his 'cello and began to scratch upon it. His renewed interest in music resulted in an interest in folk
music instead of classical music. Ben continues to look for new styles of playing the 'cello. With regards to his instrument,
Ben says, " I took that staid old gentleman of the orchestra, gave him a bottle of whiskey and a snort of coke and set him
loose in a bordello. Let's watch and see what happens next!"
Who I'd like to meet: I would like to meet people who are interested in Americana music. I am especially interested in other 'cellists who share this interest.

He is a mellow fellow with a cello. He is the prior Ben but never a has ben. He has Ben there and done than. Never high strung, simply well hung. He bows, plucks and never ever sucks.
Nice one! If I could freaking program in HTML, I'd have a rather snappy slug-bug comeback. Alas, you'll just have to watch your back! Love and kisses!!!!

Hey Ben,
Love your snowy picture. We can't believe it either! I've never seen anything like it here. Hope all is going well with the new addition to the family--and when things settle down, yes...let's jam!
Sorry I've been out of touch for a bit. Tons of deadlines and a move going on. But I wanted to drop you a line to wish you the happiest of holidays and a prosperous new year. Let's make 2007 the best one yet!
All the best, Philip http://myspace.com/philipclarknyc
Just stopped by to say hello. Well, my pre-Christmas jam has become a post-Christmas jam, but I still plan to try to pull something together soon. I will keep you posted. BTW, I am just about to start recording my very first banjo CD, which will consist of mostly original instrumental material. I am so excited!!
