Grandes musicos que han colaborado con una gran cantidad de artistas a lo largo de su carrera musical, entre los cuales podemos destacar al guitarrista Luis Salinas, Joan Manuel Serrat, Paquito De Rivera, Jorge Pardo, Vicente Amigo, Joaquin Sabina Perico Sambeat, Javier Colina, Antonio Serrano ,Cool Jerks ,el director de cine Montxo Armendariz o el trompetista Jerry Gonzales (Calle 54).

ACERCA DE CHUMA SEGURA
Nací en Pamplona en 1965.Curso mis primeros estudios musicales en Pamplona y en la Escuela Jazzle de San Sebastian.Voy a Madrid y,becado por la A.I.E ,completo mis estudios de guitarra electrica con Claudio Gabis,y de Composicion y Arreglos con Eva Gancedo y Ricardo Miralles en la Escuela de Musica Creativa.Posteriormente me incorporo al staff de profesores de esta escuela en la que he impartido clases durante 10 años (1995-2005).
En 1993 participé en el festival aleman BERLIN INDEPENDENCE DAY con el grupo LA BOA. Formé parte de la banda de soul Cool Jerks con la que grabé 5 cd..s ("Sweet & Wild" (1992), "Pictures of her Soul" (1993), "Fantabulous Crime" (1994), "Everybody needs Love" (1995), "Soul to Waste" (1996), y realicé multiples giras.
He trabajado como actor secundario en la pelicula "HISTORIAS DEL KRONEN" del director de cine MONTXO ARMENDARIZ
En 1.999 edito MI PRIMER CD en solitario titulado "EN DIRECTO" y grabado en vivo en la sala Honky Tonk de Madrid.
En Julio del 2000 participo como guitarrista invitado en el homenaje realizado a Rosendo Mercado, la gala “LEYENDAS DE LA GUITARRA”, en el teatro Gayarre de Pamplona. Compartiendo escenario con artistas como Aurora Beltran, lider del grupo “Tahures Zurdos” y “Barricada”.
En el 2002 colaboro en el disco del batería Yayo Morales “Los Andes Jazz Proyect” junto con el trompetista JERRY GONZALES ("Calle 54"), Miguel Blanco, Peter Oteo, Andrés Bedó, Sheryl Waters, Juan San Martín, Germán Kucich, Javier Massó, “Caramelo” entre otros
En el 2004 grabo la banda sonora de la PELICULA “MATAR AL ANGEL”,del director español Daniel Múgica.
A lo largo de mi carrera musical he colaborado con una gran cantidad de artistas ,entre los cuales podemos destacar al guitarrista LUIS SALINAS, el saxofonista PERICO SANBEAT, el contrabajista JAVIER COLINA(TETE MONTOLIU,CHANO DOMINGUEZ), el bateria CARLOS CARLI (PAQUITO DE RIVERA,PAT METHENY), el bajista Victor Merlo, el trombonista Ove Larsson ,el saxofonista neoyorkino BOB SANDS, la cantante CONNIE PHILP ,el pianista y cantante norteamericano ANDY PHILLIPS(1997-2000), el armonicista ANTONIO SERRANO(PACO DE LUCIA BAND), y un largo etc ….
HE GRABADO MAS DE 30 DISCOS como músico de sesión(LA DECADA PRODIGIOSA,TENESSE,RICARDO IGEA,SOULOOPATACK,entre otros) .He trabajado y realizado giras acompañando a diferentes ARTISTAS(DECADA PRODIGIOSA,VICTOR MANUEL,AMANCIO PRADA,RIOS DE GLORIA…)y tocado en directo EN GRAN CANTIDAD DE PROGRAMAS DE TV.(La Noche de los Magnificos en Antena 3,Inocente Inocente en Telecinco, Canal 9, Los Conciertos de la 2…)..

With the release of his latest album, Viejos Tiempos, Chuma Segura has released an album that builds on his reputation as one of the most prominent Spanish jazz-fusion in Spain. As the Spanish Daily El Pais noted, “Chuma Segura is one of the most critical names in jazz fusion music in our country.” (24/8/2007) The album, which features collaborations with artists such as Antonio Serrano (Paco de Lucia Band) and guitarist Francisco Simon and, fuses an intimate knowledge of the jazz-fusion, rock and blues genres with a strong dedication to the art of improvisation that has emerged over the course of a long career as an in demand instructor, composer, guitarist, and arranger.
Chuma recorded his first album, En Directo, in 1999 and toured throughout Spain to support the release. His blistering live performances during this tour received the praise of critics throughout Spain.
Chuma has collaborated with other artists including harmonica player Antonio Serrano (Paco de Lucia Band), drummer Carlos Carli (Paquito de Rivera, Pat Metheny), saxophonist Bob Sands, guitarist Luis Salinas, Saxophonist Perico Sanbeat, bassist Javier Colina (Tete Montoliu, Chano Dominquez), bassist Víctor Merlo, trombonist Ove Larson, and singer Connie Philip.
Chuma has also done extensive work as a studio musician. He has recorded more than 30 albums with another artists such as La Decada Prodiosa, Tenesse, Ricardo Igea, and Souloopatack, among others. He has toured with different artists Such as Decada Prodgiosa, Victor Manuel, Amancio Prada, and Rios de Gloria. He has also appeared on a large number of Spanish television programs such as “La Noche de los Magníficos,” “Inocente Inocente,” and “Los Conciertos de las 2.”
Viejos Tiempos(2006) is the latest opportunity to hear the guitarist’s incendiary approach to contemporary jazz-fusion and blues. Throughout the album, one can hear the echoes of players such as Carlos Santana (“Ya Estoy Junto a Ti” and “The Healer”), Larry Carlton (“Star”), George Benson, Barney Kessel (“Intro Hey Jude”), Eddie Van Halen, Ritchie Blackmore, and Stevie Ray Vaughan (“Viejos Tiempos”). At the same time, the fiery solos on “Funk on a Crest” and “Pa’l Beethoven” reflect Chuma’s ability to deliver fiery solos over memorable set of songs. As a writer for the Dutch music Web site www.rootstime.de notes, “Viejos Tiempos is a discovery for everyone who likes a mix of different styles of jazz, performed by a master who knows the art of keeping the music subtle and accessible to every listener without winding up in long solos.” (January 2009)
Currently, Chuma is playing with his group, the Chuma Segura Hot Band, in various performance venues such as the Café Populart de Madrid, Café Corrillo de Salamanca, Sala Aldana de Caceres as well as music festivals throughout Spain such as the Festival de Jazz Madrid, Festival de Jazz and Rhythym and Blues de Velez-Malaga, Festival de Jazz de Pampolona, XI Ciclo Musicas del Mundo-Madrid, and the Festival de Música Moderna and Jazz de Caceres. He also gives private lessons and seminars on modern music and jazz .
As Chuma continues to expand the boundaries of a lengthy career as a solo artist and session musician, he explains that his music will continue to balance solid musicianship with a soulful sensibility that taps into the emotions of every listener. As he says, “music is not understood intellectually, it is felt emotionally. Listen to it with the heart for it belongs to the language of the soul.” Viejos Tiempos serves as an excellent confirmation of this sentiment from one of the most dynamic guitarists in Spain.
