Let's see...
Erin in a nutshell...
I have no indoor voice, I tend to get rowdy, and I have the weirdest sense of humor you are likely to ever come across. I'm extremely aggressive and driven...but I have my moments of sweetness and sensitivity.
Due to my bordering-on-brilliant level of clutziness, I fall down a lot and am never without a bruised elbow or a scraped knee. If I ever come over to your house, I WILL trip on your front stairs and spill various things on your carpet. That's just the way it is. Consider yourself warned.
I have a passion for the written word and for academics, and love to read and write (especially poetry, short stories, and experimental fiction). Yep, I'm a nerd. But someday, I'll be a famous nerd.
I'm currently working on my Masters in English (MATW - Teaching Writing), while also teaching English 100/A: Freshman Comp at the same institution, which means that all my time is spent up at HSU either sitting in classes, teaching classes, or slaving away in my awesome office, or, as I like to call it, "The Dungeon." Things are - for lack of a better word - interesting. Yeah, I'm a busy monkey.
I am an artist, and am currently into drawing, painting, animation, mixed media, photography, filmmaking, artist modeling, interior decor, culinary arts, and fashion design...I am also learning to tattoo.
My two great loves are my guy, Dustin, and my baby girl, Bevin, five years old and more wonderful than ever. Family and friends mean the world to me.
I like acting (both theatre and film), bartending, cooking, stupid drinking games, touching of various sorts, movies, music (especially live performances), restaurants (yep, I'm a foodie!), microbrews, and good red wine, and I adore beautiful men and women.
I enjoy being outdoors, especially when it involves hiking, camping, hotsprings, beaches, bonfires, and swimming. Maybe I'm strange, but there is just nothing better than revelry around a raging fire under a full moon.
I have mellowed quite a bit in my old age, but I still love a night out, whether it be bar-hopping, clubbing, or a houseparty. Theme parties are a particular favorite...I love to dress up!
Overall, I am a fun, dorky, artistic, intelligent, weird, academic, spazzy, ambitious, neurotic, seductive, excitable party-girl with a lust for life!
...help! I'm trapped in a nutshell!
Musica
I love all kinds of music, from both the past and present. My favorite genres are old-school blues, jazz, and punk...throw on some Sex Pistols or Robert Johnson, and I'll be a happy little monkey. Pretty much any rock from the 60's up through the 70's is a hit in my book, and for some reason, I've been listening to an unheard of amount of Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley lately. I love Johnny Cash, and dream of starting an all-girl punk coverband called Cash Back. I find techno music shamefully pleasurable, and I also like modern tunes from quirky bands like Flogging Molly, The Killers, Dragged By Horses, Buckcherry, My Chemical Romance, The Dropkick Murphys, The White Stripes, Panic at the Disco, Weezer, Vampire Weekend, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, etc....Oh, and let us not forget the great classics of my lost generation, groups like Sublime, Beastie Boys, Bloodhound Gang, and NOFX.
Film
I love comedy, classic, foreign, and crazy, independent film. I used to adore horror flicks, but I really don't have the stomach for them these days...unless they are just really terrible and gory, in which case I can't turn away! Monty Python is fantastic and Jim Henson was amazing. Like many modern film buffs, I list Tim Burton, Quentin Tarantino, and Robert Rodriguez (please watch his adult films, not those horrendously awful kid's movies he makes nowadays) among my favorite writer/directors, and for a period of several years believed with the violent passion of a quasi-religious fanatic that Sam Raimi's Evil Dead series was THE most brilliant thing to ever touch Super 8. I'm a film geek, and have never met a movie that I didn't like in some way or another. I also have this strange yet all-encompassing belief that Will Smith and Justin Timberlake are two of the best and most impressive actors working today...I know, go figure. Oh, yeah, and porno is good, too...but this is most likely THE COOLEST THING EVER: http://www.somethingawful.com/articles.php?a=2377...Check it out!
Televisione
Comedy Central is brilliant. So is the Food Network, Animal Planet, the History Channel, and PBS...what can I say? I love travel programs. I believe that SNL, Mad TV, John Stewart, and Southpark provide the most valid social and political commentary available to the masses in this country. HBO's Carnivale is brilliant on DVD, Family Guy rocks ass, and WonderShowzen is so magical it will change your life. Alas, I lack cable at the moment. Or, actually, not alas at all. It was a conscious decision. Four-and-a-half years, baby...FOUR-AND-A-HALF YEARS DRY!!!
Libri
This is so hard...I love books, and will read anything! Unfortunately, I haven’t had the opportunity LATELY to read anything but class material, a situation which not only sucks, but is also pretty much tantamount to a slow, deadly, wasting disease for someone like me. Anyway, let’s see…I really have too many favorites to name in one sitting...
As far as modern writers are concerned, I pretty much go for the enjoyment factor. I adore the bizarre, funny, tongue-in-cheek social commentary of Christopher Moore, and strongly recommend anything by Charles De Lint, the Master of the Modern Urban Faerie Tale. Neil Gaiman and Michel Faber are both brilliant, and any work produced by the power duo of Steven King and Peter Straub is guaranteed to haunt the crap out of me. I like Sherman Alexie's stuff, and, as a friend recently reminded me, Nick Hornby just about kicks ass. Chuck Palahniuk is both talented and dangerously insane, and for that the world should celebrate him.
Gregory Maguire's re-imagined classics are always interesting, and for a funny and sarcastic fantasy read, try Robert Asprin's Myth Inc. series. I also love Francesca Lia Block, Charlaine Harris, and Holly Black. I am secretly a huge fan of nerdy fantasy novels, YA cheese, and supernatural genre books (yes, I AM referring to vampire/werewolf softcore), and could give you a whole list of recommended titles if you actually wanted them.
Okay, I am being a crappy English Major, here. Let's end this on a bit more of a "Literary" note...
As a self-celebrated nerd, I have to give a nod to the classics, so I would suggest that everyone read at least something by Plath, Nabokov, Albee, Wilde, Morrison, Salinger, Keats, Poe, Chaucer, Ginsberg, and Shakespeare. John Steinbeck is one of my personal favorites, and I have carried my copy of Tortilla Flat around with me for years. Oh, and please, read a little bit of Orwell if you ever get the chance! I know it’s cliché, but I just reread 1984, and I was amazed by the man's powers of prediction. Now, where was I?
I adore poetry, but have too many favorite poets and works to name here. Honestly, I’m probably my own favorite poet, but I won’t respond to any of my fan mail, which is causing tension of late. The fan in me resents the snooty celebrity, and the poet in me is just freaked out by the stalker letters she keeps finding on her porch. Anywho, let’s see…beat poetry is a particular love of mine. I would recommend The Everyman's Library Pocket Poet's collection of Beat Poetry for anyone in need of a quick fix of the beat generation. It is small, compact, and easy to take along with you on the long, winding road of life. Because, if you are going to take a volume of beat poetry anywhere, the trip better involve a long, winding road. Because that's just the way it's done, son.
Wow, is it just me, or did I write way more in the "Books" section than ANYONE will ever bother to read?

Just wanted to say hi. I always drive past your house and wonder: "How's Erin?" How is Erin? Hope your summer is kickin'. Sorry we have not been to the Clam Bar lately. Both are unemployed now and broke. But it's all good. :)
Hey gorgeous! I hope you are doing fine. Some grad students went out for margaritas this evening and we were talking about YOU. How we miss you! How you should have been there with a margarita in your hand. We are planning a bar night the Wednesday when all papers are due (13th). You should come!
