With musical sophistication beyond their years, these young ladies continue to stretch boundaries, exploring the percussive aspect of dancing and blending styles in original compositions.
When she was only 18, Adrianna Ciccone won the Maritime Open Fiddle Championship. Her style, while rooted in the Ottawa Valley fiddle tradition, reflects her eccletic musical tastes. Adrianna’s colourful arrangements and artful compositions draw from traditions of the past while forging a unique musical identity.
Ariel Hyatt is at the forefront of percussive dancers in Canada today. The 2005 Canadian Open Step Dance Champion combines her Ottawa Valley Step Dancing roots with tap rhythms heavily influenced by drumming traditions from around the world. Ariel’s inventive approach to percussive dancing is both visually striking and musically captivating.
Together, Ciccone and Hyatt aim to preserve Canada’s rich musical heritage through innovation and creative expression.
