Interview With Cici:

From the heart of the Carolinas comes Cici Jansen, a 13-year-old singer whose debut recording is a collection of songs that any mom or record executive would be proud of. “The songs on my record cover a few styles,” explained Cici, “as I’ve experimented a little to find my true voice. It’s been fun to try new things and see what fits.” Some of the CD’s eleven tracks lean towards traditional country, while others have a county-pop orientation. “This first recording experience was really cool because we went in with ideas and came out with great songs,” Cici said. “I love the feeling of accomplishing something that I know is good.” Recorded over a two-year period, the songs show growth as Cici matured. But it’s not just Cici’s voice that sets her apart. Her personality and cute-as-a-button looks also draw fans like bees to honey. “I don’t know why, but I’m just really comfortable on stage” Cici explained in a recent interview. “I don’t get nervous at all. The crowd makes it more fun!” With numerous competitions and awards under her belt, she’s now making friends in Nashville and taking offers from beyond her hometown. “I’ve played church socials, local festivals, and even a retirement center,” she said. “But lately I’ve been traveling further from home to play for people who are calling and saying they heard about me and want me to come perform for them.” In addition to winning American Idol-like contests and awards in her home state of North Carolina, she’s succeeding in Georgia and South Carolina, including a strong showing in the 2009 Colgate Country Showdown.
