We have many influences in probably everything that touches metal, even in classical music and some jazz/prog stuff. But to resume the whole thing that is Cimery, the most important band is
Death.
CIMERY EST UN PROJET QUI A PRIS FIN EN NOVEMBRE 2007. MERCI À TOUS D'AVOIR ÉTÉ LÀ POUR NOUS DURANT CES ANNÉES.
C’est par le mois de janvier 2006 que quatre fervents passionnés de musique métal; Daric, Frank, Louis et Alex décident d’unir leurs efforts pour donner vie au projet Cimery. Le groupe se lance ainsi dans la composition dès son départ étant donné le haut niveau d’inspiration, de maturité et d’originalité des compositions de leur percussionniste, Louis. Cependant, le quatuor rencontre son premier obstacle majeur en tentant aussi bien que mal de trouver la voix qui va les représenter. Après plusieurs recherches infructueuses, c’est le bassiste, Alex, qui décide de prendre en charge l’aspect vocal du groupe. Enfin, Cimery est prêt à prendre d’assaut la scène métal locale!
Le quatuor fait ses débuts en prenant place au concours de la guerre des bands de Mad Productions Inc. Les quatre acolytes se rendent en demi-finale et se taillent une place parmi les 15 meilleurs espoirs de la relève musicale du Québec sur les 300 bands inscrits. C’est de même par le biais de la guerre des bands que Cimery fait connaissance avec l’excellent groupe néo-brunswickois, Indicate. Ces derniers décident avec une grande générosité d’inviter Cimery à venir jouer avec eux en terre du Nouveau-Brunswick dans le cadre de la Foire Brayonne d’Edmundston. De plus, Cimery a aussi pris part au concours Musik en Beauce en y délivrant une prestation énergique qui ne passât pas inaperçue.
Pendant l’été 2007, la formation québécoise fait face à une autre épreuve quand Alex quitte ses fonctions de chanteur et bassiste pour se consacrer entièrement à son projet personnel, Altered Project. Les trois autres membres sont ébranlés, mais ne baissent pas les bras et décident de profiter de la situation pour redéfinir la vision musicale et l’image du groupe. Le trio fait le choix de ne plus faire de Death métal pour laisser plus de place à la mélodie du coté du vocal. Encore, l’image sombre, noire et pessimiste du groupe ne plait plus aux membres de Cimery, ainsi, plus de couleurs, des textes plus optimistes et une ouverture d’esprit encore plus grande feront partit du nouveau tournant de la formation.
À la fin de l'été 2007, les recherchent du groupe sont concluantes et Cimery se remet rapidement sur pied. Le trio remarque l’énorme potentiel dont dispose Remi en tant que chanteur et le son unique qu’apporte Hub en tant que bassiste.
It’s in January 2006 that four passionate of heavy metal music; Daric, Frank, Louis and Alex decided to gather their talent to create Cimery. Highly inspired right at the beginning of their collaboration, the band started writing their own songs. However, the quartet had a major obstacle; they had a lot of difficulty to find the lead singer that would represent them. After a lot of fruitless research, the bassist, Alex, decided to take the vocal aspect of the band in charge. Finally, Cimery was ready to storm the local metal scene!
The quartet debuted their live performances by playing at the Mad production’s contest; La Guerre des Bands. The four collaborators reached the semi-finals and made the top 15 best bands of Quebec among 300 bands registered. Moreover, it’s in that contest that Cimery met Indicate, an excellent band from New-Brunswick. The incredible band offered Cimery the opportunity to play with them at the Foire Brayonne in Edmundston, their hometown. Cimery also participated to the Musik en Beauce contest with an energetic performance that didn’t go unnoticed.
During the summer of 2007, the Quebec band encountered another issue. Alex, the lead signer, left the band to fully concentrate on his personal project, Altered Project. The three other members were shaken but decided not to give up and take advantage of the situation to redefine the musical vision and image of the band. The trio didn’t want to do Death metal anymore; they wished to enrich the melodic aspect of the vocal parts. In addition, the dark, black and pessimistic image of the band didn’t appeal anymore to Cimery’s members. From now on, more colours, more optimistic oriented lyrics and a more open-minded music would be part of Cimery.
In the end of summer 2007, the band's searches are finally over and Cimery is once again complete. The three members notice a huge potential in Remi's voice and the unique sound Hub provides on the bass.
