| General | I like art and wish I could spend more money on stuff by the artists I like; I also wish it were more a part of children's schooling. I can understand foreign languages better than I can understand music. I don't smoke and rarely drink. I am probably more of a wallflower than an outgoing life of the party, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy watching everyone else make fools of themselves. Everything else: Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, O Brother Where Art Thou, 28 Days Later, Kung Fu Hustle, The Big Lebowski, Pan's Labyrinth, Iron Man, Moulin Rouge, Idiocracy, The Bourne Identity, anything by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Garden State, Snatch, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Eddie Izzard's Dress to Kill, Breakfast Club, 40 Year Old Virgin, many an early Disney animated movie, Superbad, Pineapple Express, Donnie Darko, Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys, Fifth Element (yes, I liked it), Princess Bride, Goonies, The Mummy, Ocean's 11 and 13 (NOT 12), Blade, Love Actually, Almost Famous, Friday, Gattaca, There's Something About Mary, Shakespeare in Love.... and so many more I could watch over and over again.
The only chick flicks I can stand: While You Were Sleeping, Sliding Doors, Bridget Jones's Diary, French Kiss, The Saint (I consider that a fairly girly spy movie).
I'll also watch almost anything with vampires or werewolves in the hope that something one day might be good....
Netflix is both the best and worst thing ever. | | Television | Spaced, Pushing Daisies, Lost, Scrubs, House, Firefly, The Office (the British version), My Name is Earl, The Office (the American version), 30 Rock, Carnivale (the first season), Cowboy Bebop, Robot Chicken....
I don't really watch much TV... we haven't had cable in years....
I'm sure there are many older shows if I could just remember them (ooh - like MacGyver, Quantum Leap....). | | Books | The Time Traveler's Wife, The History of Love, The Green Mile, A Series of Unfortunate Events, the Harry Potter books, Carter Beats the Devil, The Color Purple, Siddharta, His Dark Materials, Dune, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Hamlet (yes, I like some Shakespeare enough to list it here), Cosmicomics, Gertie & Gus, The Yellow Star, The Little Mermaid, Greek myths, fairy tales, Shel Silverstein, my Childcraft books from when I was little, my books on records from when I was little.... I could probably add more from when I was younger....
The list of books I want to read is, sadly, longer than the list above. It includes a fair number of children's and young adult books as well as a great deal of current fiction. I don't read much nonfiction for fun - I get enough of that at my day job.

About me:
I'm an editor by day (of text - words, words, words) and sometimes by night (www.CSMediting.com), and I'm a photographer some of the other time (www.cindysheffieldmichaels.com). I used to read more than I do now and I mourn that fact. I LOVE watching movies.
I was born in Mississippi (yes, we do wear shoes; no, we do not ride cows to school) and lived briefly in Texas before returning to Mississippi to finish out school. I went to college in Arkansas then moved to the Atlanta area and have been here since 1999. I've also been (briefly) to parts of Europe and Mexico, I've stayed longer periods in Madrid and Barcelona, and I've been to Puerto Rico more than once. I'd love to live in Spain if it were possible.
I love my dog and my parents and my husband, though not necessarily in that order.
