"All you really need to know is that there is another Cinema16 DVD out. The last two – British and
European collections- have been high quality releases and this is no different and no less essential." Guardian Guide.
The latest release includes contributions from Lars Von Trier (Dogville), Tom Tykwer
(Run Lola Run), Nanni Moretti (The Son’s Room), Peter Mullan (The Magdalene
Sisters), Lukas Moodyson (Together), Jean-Luc Godard (A Bout de Souffle), Krzysztof
Kieslowski (Decalog) and Patrice Leconte (Monsieur Hire). Once again the project was
supported by the directors themselves who recorded commentaries to accompany their
films.
Press:
"Last year’s debut CINEMA16 DVD was a generation-spanning compilation album of
short films by the cream of British directors. The second in the series spreads its net
Europe-wide, reeling in a selection of star names and world-class work even more
impressive than the first. Pure quality, beautifully packaged, with no filler." The Times.
"Film studies in a box." The Sunday Times
The critically-acclaimed debut Cinema16 release includes films and commentaries from
Ridley Scott (Alien, Gladiator), Chris Nolan (Memento, Insomnia), Lynne Ramsay
(Ratcatcher, Morvern Caller), Stephen Daldry, (Billy Elliot, The Hours), Peter
Greenaway (The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover), Martin Parr and Mike Leigh
(Secrets and Lies). It was named a DVD of the year by Time Out and Empire
magazine.
Press:

festival in the comfort of your own home." Empire
"A film school on one disc." The BBC

I posted a great video clip of Jack Kerouac reading from On The Road on the Old Steve Allen TV show on my page. Allen accompanies Kerouac on the piano. The show aired in 1960, a far cry from today's world of reality TV and American/Canadian Idol. Something to think about after you've enjoyed listening to Kerouac read from his masterpiece.

After a brief visit to the Ottawa Wal-Mart I was inspired to upload this video: Crap, Crap & More Crap from the great Bob Rafelson film Five Easy Pieces. Check it out on my home page. Its even funnier and more relevant today than it was when the film premiered over 30 years ago. The actress is Helena Kallianotes.
