Oof, insatiable touche à tout
Un pied dans le mix, un dans la réalisation, et un autre dans la promotion, ça fait trois pieds me direz-vous. Physiquement impossible ? Impossible n’est pas Oof.
L’éclectisme est à Oof, ce que le survêtement Adidas est à Fidel Castro…
Oof le DJ, mixe à son image depuis 1992. Collisions d’électrons hip hop, rock psyché ou afro-latin, ses DJ sets s’adaptent à chaque dancefloor, à chaque oreille, mêmes aux moins averties.
Ses compositions de titres électro avec Zero dB sous le patronyme de Zzouf mettent en transe les dancefloor de Londres et Tokyo.
En 2003 avec l’appui de Universal Jazz, Oof conduit l'album Cinémix. L’iconoclaste dépoussière les plus célèbres B.O. françaises 60’s, et crée des performances DJVing, hybrides et délurées. Le projet convie 25 artistes comme Carl Craig, Sporto Kantès, ou Gonzales pour remixer Morricone, De Roubaix ou Magne (collection «Ecoutez le cinéma »).
De là, Oof le réalisateur, requinque les classiques du cinéma, et concocte une vingtaine de faux vidéoclips de films. De Bangkok à Toronto, de Melbourne à N.Y., de Montreux au festival de Cannes où il est résident chaque année, il écume 300 dates de clubs en salles de concert et autres musées pour jouer ses créations survoltées.Mandaté en 2006 par l’Office National du film Canadien, il produit dix vidéoclips et une performance audiovisuelle à partir de l'œuvre de l’avant-gardiste Norman McLaren, cinéaste d’animation et maitre de la symbiose entre image et son.
Oof le ninja, est aussi directeur artistique et fondateur (1998) de l'agence Ping Pong (www.pingpong.fr), qui représente en France le label Ninja Tune ou encore des artistes tels que Santogold.
Organisateur sur Paris de plus de 130 soirées, commissaire d’expo street & pop art, il développe les ponts entre art contemporain, graphisme, musique, danse, mode, photo, théâtre ou cinéma (Eros 69, Mai 68, etc.)

Cinemix, a new audiovisual approach
It all begun in 2003 when Frederic Elalouf (aka Oof) was asked by Universal Jazz to do the executive production for the Cinemix® album: remixes of the most famous French soundtracks of the 60’s. To promote this CD he created an unexpected performance. New in its genre, this uncommon work is about mixing image and sound, gathering hundreds of synchronized sequences from movies, music videos and concerts. We know about “DJing”. Now in a world full of sound and images, we can see “DVJing” emerging. Oof has launched this movement in France. He immerses himself in this audiovisual melting pot and conceives the Cinemix in an artistic and thematic way.
Frustrated not to find video sequences of his favourite film soundtracks, Oof transforms the movies into music videos. He has directed over 30 of them up to now with various editors. It’s a work of synchronisation, which condenses the remix. He reinterprets and adapt existing works (found footage), where the script becomes modified with humour, giving a modern feel. Oof tries to raise the sound to the level of the image and balance them. These videos are then ready to leave the projection room to be played in a club, venue, museum, lounge in Tokyo or Melbourne, from the Montreux or Cannes festivals, about 200 gigs worldwide.
Recently he made an official tribute to the musician François de Roubaix (the French “Ennio Morricone”), directing five music videos for the 30th celebration of his death. In 2006, The National Film Board of Canada (NFB) asked Frederic Elalouf to carry out an audio-visual show at the Pompidou Center in Paris, using the film works of the most famous Canadian film-maker: the genius Norman McLaren (1914-1987). He built an uncommon work based on invention, research & humanism. Countless people acknowledged the influence of McLaren, from the famous director and producer George Lucas to Pablo Picasso and François Truffaut. A dozen videos have been produced for the McLaren Cineclip show.
The whole Cinemix phenomenon becomes a bridge between people of different generations and acts against the loss of the greatest cultural moments of the past, whilst also fulfilling a desire to educate people about the music and the French language in these films.
