  • Bio

"A minimal act whose impact is expansive. Silk-lined vocal harmonies, melodies that only know how anthems feel. There's lean, refined songcraft, but no shortage of ferocity..." _______________________________________________________ "The Cinnamon Band has been turning heads for two years now. But they first attracted the notice of Dan Boeckner, of Wolf Parade, while opening for Boeckner's sideproject, Handsome Furs at the Satellite Ballroom in the spring of 2008. They've since shared more than 30 bills with the Furs, and their new EP All Dressed sounds in no small part like a product of Boeckner's patronage: Recorded at Wolf Parade drummer Arlen Thompson's Mount Zoomer studio in Montreal. _________________________________________________________________ Where blues musicians took the one-four-five and turned into a world of their own, the Cinnamon Band takes a simpler formula...and pummels until it sounds like something new. Opener "I'm Asking You" starts the EP with more bombast than the other three tracks. But as they settle into another kind of groove listeners can still glimpse the intensity of the band's live show." --Cville Weekly

  • Influences

  • Sounds Like

A guitar and drums duo that combines bittersweet Everly Brothers style vocal harmony with the raw anthemic power of early U2 and the heartworn lyrical punchlines of Nick Lowe. Consciously rooted in Rock and Roll tradition, its ambitious heartbreaking pop music with every inch of fat cut off.

A friend suggested that I listen to your stuff last night and, let me just say - BUENA VISTA! What a wonderful song! Every musician dreams about writing a song with a hook as good as that one. It's infectious, simple and, most importantly, it has heart. Great build, too.

Anyway, I'm sold. I'd love to be able to make it out to one of your shows sometime in the future.. possibly in Harrisonburg. In any case, keep up the good work. Shit's inspirational.
