Circus Malarkey was formed as a voluntary arts group on 1st May 2002 . Since then the group has been prolific in its work throughout West Wales . We have undertaken so much work that it would be difficult to name every event or booking. Over the years we generated much income to sustain the organisation through private bookings. We have also received grant aid for our community work.
We ran weekly Circus workshops in the Queens Hall, Narberth for 2 years.
We organised and co-ordinated a whole series of workshops in building lanterns and learning circus skills leading up to 'St. David's city festival of light'. A lantern parade at Christmas with over 100 participants set up entirely by Circus Malarkey.
We co-ordinated a team of 40 volunteers at both the Celtic Blue Rock 2004 and 2005 festivals, providing a fun filled kids and family workshop and performance area that entertained and engaged all throughout the day, on both occasions.
We've also made 2 albums with a community group, done an art mural & graffiti wall, ran dj sessions and run willow sculpture workshops for parades. We also made a series of films for a community group and through that set up Malarkey TV. We work with hard to engage young people and have developed an innovative approach around the issues of antisocial behaviour in partnership with the Welsh assembly govt and the tenant's participation advisory service. Our work has recently been reviewed in the big issue magazine. We believe in working for the future empowerment of disadvantaged communities through a variety of diverse art forms.
We meet sporadically as a loose collective to work at our own skills and development. Our collective is available for bookings of circus skills or performance. We take fire show bookings too.
2006 saw us busy with the planning and development of The Celtic Blue Rock kids area and community art provision. This year festival was amazing. The sun shone and the kids area rocked. It had grown enourmously in 3 years. We now had 115 volunteers and it had outgrown Circus Malarkey. We had co-ordinated the field since its begginings and had now included other community arts groups to deliver the kids field in a true partnership of community spirit. Thus the birth of Scrap Arts the new group who now run the field. This year as ever we had a really solid hardworking crew of truely inspirational people. Thanks go out to all who contribute to make this area the success it is. And thanks too to all the kids, families and individuals who come and enjoy the space and take part in the workshops and parade and bring fun, life, colour and vitality to the whole experience.
2007 saw Circus Malarkey team up with Tidy Like Records and other Youth Groups to develop and deliver a new Space at Celtic Blue Rock. A creative area for young people - 'The Big Kids Area' !!!!!!!

NOT THE ONLYCLOWN IN THE VILLAGE are out and about creating musical mischief n malarkey in a frenzy of festies this summer. We'll be all over GLASTONBURY like a lushious rash in 2 weeks time, then up to Wrexham for the MYDDLE EARTH PAGAN FESTIVAL, down to wesy Wales for the PEMBROKE FESTIVAL, over toLondon for 2 nights in Hammersmith with the ORGANISED KAOS WHATS THE COLOUR OF MONEY CIRCUS SHOW, After that, we're back in west Wales for the sensational CELTIC BLUE ROCK FESTIVAL . End of August we're back to our cultural homeland in AMSTERDAM, returning to Holland i the Autumnfor another full tour, dates to be confirmed later.
