From tribal to glamorous, bohemian to industrial, Circus Tribal is bellydance theatre inspired by the Middle East and Romani cultures, vaudeville, & beyond.
Circus Tribal Bellydance Co. was officially formed in 2005 by artistic director, Emily Alrick, as a project to explore bellydance and the various roots of the dance form as well as explore connections and fusion with various other dance forms and theatre arts. Drawing from all of the various styles of bellydance, they also acknowledge related ethnic dances from along the Romani Trail and beyond infuse their performances with humor, storytelling and short vignettes. The Circus Tribal dancers regularly perform at cultural events and family festivals as well as produce a show or two annually to spotlight the bellydance and ethnic dance communities in Southern Oregon. The passionate members of Circus Tribal Bellydance Co. are dedicated to presenting their art the best they can to educate and entertain audiences everywhere.
The unique style of Circus Tribal Bellydance not only encompasses the many styles of Middle Eastern and North African dance, but also embraces the many inspirations within Western culture and beyond, creating a dance that can be old or new, ethnic or urban, something for everyone. Whether traditional, tribal, comedic or urban, Circus Tribal is devoted to bringing the art of bellydance to new heights.
