About Cirque / Yoshihiro HANNO

Yoshihiro HANNO (Composer)
Born in Osaka 1968, Yoshiro Hanno is an internationally renowned musician/composer whose field of work has been expanding from movie soundtracks to orchestral pieces, as well as electronics music. In 1997 he was highly acclaimed for his album released in Europe, which led him to move to his homebase to Paris since 2000. His creation style, which is boundary-free for any genre has made him unique in the music scene. With his score for Hou Hsaio-Hsien film “Flowers of Shanghai”, which was highly praised as “discovery of a new talent of movie soundtracks”. Hanno has collaborated with leading Asian directors such as Jia Zhang-ke and Yu Lik Wai etc... His subtle yet rich elegant music has gained a strong fan base and is constantly evolving. As Hanno says, “My music is a universal hymn to the primitive pain and pleasure of being human”, his sounds keep giving the audience sensational emotions. He is also director of Cirque, op.disc

1968年、大阪に生まれる。映画音楽からオーケストラ作品、エレクトロニクスミュージックにいたるで幅広く世界中で活躍する音楽家。97年ヨーロッパでリリースされた作品で注目を集め、2000年パリへ活動の拠点を移す。そのジャンルを超越した創作活動は独自の存在感をもって受けとめられている。ホウ・シャオシャン監督作品フラワーズ・オブ・シャンハイで『新たな映画音楽作家の発見』との評価をうけて以降、ジャ・ジャンクー、ユー・リクウァイといった現代アジアを代表する監督達と共同作業を重ねている。その繊細かつ豊潤な音楽は、熱狂的な信者を獲得しつつも、常に変貌を遂げ、『僕の音楽は人間の根源的な苦しみと喜びへの普遍的な讃歌なんだ』と本人が語るサウンドは、常に斬新な感動を聴く者に与え続けている。Cirque, op.disc主宰

On 2000 Yoshihiro HANNO founded Cirque based on Tokyo, a record label that focuses on contemporary electronics / acoustic musical forms to present his innovative works. In 2007 HANNO formed new music village Cirque.Mavo. to present new talents and unknown possibilites.

In an attempt to merge traditions of improvisation in Vietnamese and contemporary Western culture, this is a performance of Tu Dai Oán, a traditional Vietnamese song. In this performance with Thanh Thuy (playing the dan tranh), Stefan Östersjö (playing 10-string guitar) and Henrik Frisk (laptop), this traditional tune is overlapped with free improvisation with electronics. The performance is from a Scandinavian tour in spring 2009 with The Six Tones, a Swedish/Vietnamese project merging traditional and experimental music. The video was recorded at Atalante in Gothenburg by Niklas Rydén. Stay in touch, all best!/The Six Tones ..
