Once upon a time, in a kitchen far far away...
...the melodic components of recently deceased local band Fading Visions were brewing something wonderful...organic coffee. After the much-needed boost of caffienated goodness, they - Cait and Tom - set to work like little musical monkeys on a song - and I use the term loosely - Cait had written just days previously. Entitled "Time" the preliminary recording consisted of Cait singing along to a drum beat (or, more accurately, the somewhat warped back of a very old foreign classical beat; it was all very punk rawk).
With no idea about chords, or even a proper key, it was Tom's task to take the skinny, malnourished, shy little song in from the cold and inject some much needed life into it. To do this, an extremely delicate system was devised: Cait sat on a stool in Tom's kitchen, singing the first verse over and over again, while Tom tried every single chord under the sun. Eventually, it was done and even a key/beat change was put into place.
So, Brian Molko was wrong, it didn't all break down at the first rehersal. It all fell into place, actually.
Since then, Time has grown, evolved and been through so many changes of key it hardly bears any resemblance to the original recordings of yore. Other songs have also been written, and new members are in the process of being recruited as I type. Even if they don't know it yet.
Within their first 6 months of formation, CITK hit Greenbelt - purely as people wishing to soak up as much musical influence as possible - armed with 50 CDs. In all, around 43 of those CDs were given out, mainly to perfect strangers. CITK hope that even if the CDs aren't listened to, the recipients will use their imagination as to an alternative use, such as coaster, or perhaps frisbee.
