With clichés such as “The Next Best Thing” and “A Breath Of Fresh Air” so quickly attributed to every artist today New York’s City Haze is focused on capturing the attention of Hip-Hop lovers everywhere. Stepping onto the independent music scene in Winter of ’07, the emcee has quickly developed a buzz only a few on NYC’s underground can genuinely claim.
New York has always generated some of the greatest talent in Hip-Hop but the city’s rap scene has stagnated due to artists wishing to bring back the Golden Era of the 90s. Born and raised between the South Bronx and Brooklyn you won’t hear Haze spewing hardcore rhymes in the customary old school New York fashion. Instead the emcee’s style is progressive; distinguished by a cool and clever easy-listening flow that complements the smooth and silky beats he enjoys rhyming over.
He uses everyday experiences everyone can relate to as the source of his music while avoiding industry blueprints to create his own impressions.
“I learn something new everyday,” says the young emcee. “I get better and more creative every time I write. I come up with different ideas that every person can comprehend regarding every aspect of life. Hip Hop is as a way of life.”
Haze’s debut street album, City Lane, was received well by Hip Hop’s online community. The digitally released album was downloaded by over 15,000 listeners. Since then the artist has been picked as an emcee to watch by a dozen of Hip-Hop online tastemakers including HipHopDx , 2DopeBoyz, Nah Right, ThatsHipHop, ill Roots and OnSmash.
He has been featured on YoRaps.com’s “Next 2 Blow” , HipHopRuckus.com’s “On da Come Up” and RubyHornet.com’s “First Look.” His buzz has even circulated the globe as he’s been featured on several international magazines like France’s Rap-Us Magazine , the cover of Australia’s Star Central Magazine and has even generated a buzz in Tokyo .
As the New York native primes himself for the release of his second EP, Star of the City, his single “On My Way” featuring Levar Thomas garnered half a million plus downloads.
