Acoustica: Music in a quiet place
Melbourne Library Service
www.melbournelibraryservice.com.au
With over 40 gigs across three libraries every year, Melbourne Libarary Service's Acoustica series offers local (and some not so local) musicians a chance to make some noise in a quite place, and reach a slightly different audience.
Acoustica @ Lunch
Is held at City Library on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month, 12.30 - 1.30pm and generally attracts a rolling sit-down audience of 10 - 20 people. Whilst the sound in The Gallery travels throughout the library, giving artists an effective audience of up to 200. If you’ve ever done your time busking on the street, this gig has a very similar feel.
Acoustica @ Night
Acoustica @ Night offers instrumentalists a chance to showcase their talents. The @ Night series starts March this year and continues on the 3rd Thursday of every month, 6pm - 7pm.
Acoustica @ East/North
Acoustica has branched out to our East and North Melbourne Libraries, each taking its turn on the weekends of alternate months. 12pm - 1pm on the 1st Saturday of every second month at East, and 3pm - 4pm on the first Sunday of every other month at North. These 'best of Acoustica @ Lunch' gigs are highly appreciated by the local communities near each branch.
Melbourne Library Service is able to pay musicians $100 per gig (please note, due to forward budgeting this fee is per performance, not per performer), and offers a range of advertising for our Acoustica artists:
* Artist Bio on the Melbourne Library Service website and links to your website
* Advertising the performance on the plasma screen behind the main desk, and on fliers and posters around the library
* Space on our brochure table for artists fliers promoting future gigs
* An opportunity for artists to sell CDs on the day. Cash handling is the responsibility of the artist.
*Artist CD added to the Melbourne Library Service collection, if desired.
PLEASE NOTE: Acoustica's waiting list is always six month to a year long, but please don't let that deter you, it might take an age to get back to you, but once you're on the waiting list, we won't forget you either! And that list is just going to get longer!

Thankyou, Jess, for my opportunity to play today, the crowd was most appreciative and I am grateful to be invited back. A wonderful venue for us indie artists. Much respect, Anni Lang
Hey Jess, Thanks so much for having a listen! The library is such a beautiful venue. I look forward to hearing from you when a spot becomes available. Mandy.x
Hi Jess Thanks for your reply and if you need me to send another copy of my CD, it's no trouble. I posted it to the City Library address, so I may have been misplaced. Enjoy your holidays :)
Hi Jess, Just wanted to check on my CD I sent for the City Library collection last year - it's not appearing in the catalogue, so should I send another copy to you? Thanks and have a great week :)
Dan Lethbridge continues his June residency at Wesley Anne this Thursday with support
from one Tim Cannon. Come warm yourself by the open fire, have a drink
and relax with some fine music.
AMAZING DAY!!! Thankyou so much! I recommend this place to anyone and everyone! It truly is music in a quiet, relaxed, beautiful and ambient setting. Love it! xoxo
