CityLife are Gerard Sidhu and Stephen Docker, and as the name suggests, both are advocates of sounds that can be heard in the heart of an ambiguous city - cool and composed with eccentricities and resonances that drill into your head.
Originally conceived by Gerard and DJ Andy Murphy, CityLife’s debut single "San Francisco" spent 20 weeks in the Aria Club Charts reaching the Top 5. The duo received major support from Nova FM and the single became the station’s most played track for three straight weeks. “San Francisco” was a collaboration with Dennis Dowlut, a true pioneer of the Australian R’n’B scene and a multi-award winning songwriter as member of Disco Montego. The success of “San Francisco” took CityLife around Australia to play at clubs and festivals including onelove, Stereosonic and Betterdayz. Andy Murphy has now moved on to pursue other projects, while continuing his DJ career locally and overseas.
Gerard Sidhu has established himself as a producer with extensive technical ability and a proven track record for knowing what works on the dancefloor. As a DJ, Gerard has made a mark on the Australian circuit and is now reaching out to the international stage. Lead singer Stephen Docker is a classically trained violinist from the Victorian College of Arts and brings another dimension to CityLife live sets and studio production. Stephen’s instrumental input and pure vocal style emanate from over 15 years experience with the Australian Youth Orchestra and Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
Over the past 12 months CityLife have been active in their Melbourne studio remixing tracks for Jason Herd, Carl Kennedy, Mobin Master & Hess and Black Dogs, all of which achieved success on the dance charts. CityLife are now focused on producing singles for release on onelove. A remix of their forthcoming single “Never Too Late” has just been released on the onelove compilation ‘Smash Your Stereo’. Gerard says of the new single, “When we first began to write “NTL”, we set out to write a chorus that was catchy and memorable after first listen. Anyone can relate to this song and we wanted the story to be told in an uplifting way."
“Never Too Late” is released through onelove in September.
