"Its Very Promising This"- Steve Lamacq After Spinning "Mashed On Fashion" on Radio 1
"High pitched melodies and northern twanged slang ahoy. With enough jingle jangle to secure a place in the record buying publics concious. And lots of tweaked analogue synths. This is all good fun"- Artrocker Magazine
"Amazing"- Conrad Murray, 96.2 The Revolution
"Citylights Avoid Being Just Another Band, Well Worth A Listen"-Sandman Magazine
"Get Out Of Our Town"- The People Of Warrington
"The gig is pretty fun, the stage is a load of tables pulled together and one of the support bands has come all the way from the mid ‘90s, which is a fair old trek, but [bassist] Kelly still refuses to “get ‘em out” for them. There’s a clear divide between those hear to see us and the Britpop lad contingent, we do some fun heckles and hang around talking to Manchester peoples. The first-on band, City Lights, are pretty special… they do the post-punk thing only with a cello and extra drums and they’re about 15. We drive back to Liverpool for the night and stay at our friend Simon’s. He’s the best drunk ever."- Drowned In Sound/Johnny Foreigner Tour Diary
"The Bright Lights of Nottingham, Look For The Chicken In The Furcoat With The Megaphone"- BBC Nottingham
"Funky wit merchants"- Catcutter
"Chirpy Jangles With Parping Keys"- NME (Who The Hell Got Paid To Write That)
"The bass, drums and guitar trio of City Lights help new label PowWow launch their debut record. This is sprightly, indie pop carried along with casiotone keyboard hooklines and the rattle of sharp, raspy guitar. “Mashed On Fashion” is just the kind of thing for the Indie Disco – the light panache of an early Housemartins combined with Fender jingles and the dayglo fushion of new rock beats. “She’s A Disco Nightmare” shoves all of this into a slightly disorganised basket of DIY, but somehow it’s a great escape, as the live disco beats and off-beat ska chops merge tongue-in-cheek humour with a danceable slice of fun guitar pop. City Lights work best with their synth bubbling and the beats taking the lead, whilst their vocals create bundles of wry observational catchphrase pop."- ManchesterMusic.co.uk

Heeyy :) Youu weree dead good on Wednesday :) Joe would've loved it. Hope your all okay and that. He was an amazing cousin. And an amazing friend. xxxxx
hello guys, just found out the bad news tonight when i opened up the Guardian. I feel all your pain, I lose a close friend at your ages, 3 years later and its gets better. Just be there to support each other and i hope you all stay in music. Its what he would have wanted.
Last year i was filming at the Music Festival. We have this Video of your performance...well one song. I hope you can look back on it and be pleased.
I'm really sorry about the tragic news guys...Just thought I'd pay my respects and say how much of a talented, gifted person he was. I never knew him as a person very well, but seeing him perform not only just in your band, but also in JCS, I know that he was a very talented person and will be missed. RIP Joe. xxx
guys i dont know what to say, joe was such a nice bloke, as all of you are - it has deeply hurt me being told this news, i hope you are ok, joe will be sadly missed as a person and as a musician. I hope this site will keep his memory alive, all my thoughts, fush xxxxxx
