Music
Jazz (all kinds), Blues, old Rock'n'Roll (50s thru early 70s) and African pop music - my favorites.
Enjoy bluegrass, reggae, folk, trad. of British Isles, Latino, certain contempo singer-songwriters. Classical chamber music, symphony - on occasion.
Tend to dislike: Opera, metal, hip-hop, disco, electronica, commercial C/W.
Movies
Noir, drama, documentaries, campy comedies. Moderate appetite for sci-fi. Loved LOTR and KING KONG. Like the better old Hollywood product. An occasional musical. Faves: Citizen Kane, Bogart films, David Lean, Battleship Potemkin, Alec Guinness, Monty Python, John Stewart, Robt. Greenwald, Bill Moyers.
Television
I avoid commercial TV in general. Avoid PBS during pledge breaks (80% of the time with our local station). Enjoy MYSTERY!, MP, FRONTLINE, NOW, history series, documentaries, old movies. Mostly use my TV to watch old movies or contempo documentaries on VHS or DVD. Haven't had cable in years. Watch DN! on the Web most days, that's my true addiction. Not Britney, Paris Hilton and the great Hollywood glamor-drama created as a distraction for the masses.

I'm a big time jazz fan, and also like Blues and World Music; classical chamber music and symphony; etc. I am an avid player of the phonograph and CD changer, and love to catch live music at Seattle area jazz clubs, or wherever I'm visiting.
Enjoy documentaries and reporting, can do my own still and video camera or assist w/lighting & sound. Do both straight reportage and parodies of the right-wing news media (Fox News, Clear Channel). Search on FEAR CHANNEL NEWS at videos.google.com f

"Be Here Now" Festival Scheduled for Starks, ME, August 14-16
Starks, Maine -- The hill at Harry Brown's Farm will come ALIVE
with music, giant puppets, belly dancing, and fire twirling three days during tie "Be Here Now" Festival this August.
Organizers hope to build on the success of “Harry Hoe-Down,” the first festival held on the site this season, where thousands of people braved the late June rains to bring to life Harry Brown's vision of “free people assembling freely.” An icon of Maine's counter-culture, Brown has been hosting festivals on his land for nineteen years to support efforts to legalize marijuana in Maine.
