Following a swag full of national and international supports, along with performances at Big Day Out, Soundwave Festival as well as appearances on Channel V and MTV, the indie four-piece flew overseas in 2008 to play the Great Escape Festival in the UK after Martin Elbourne (former agent of New Order, The Smiths) and booker for Glastonbury (UK) immediately confirmed City Riots after watching the band perform just a few weeks beforehand. The band was part of a stellar line-up including The Wombats, Vampire Weekend and The Futureheads, as well as playing sideshows at the Camden Barfly and international pop festival in Liverpool. Following the three-week British tour, the band came back for a brief Australian run before heading across the Pacific to play a five-week tour of the United States, taking in Milwaukee's Summerfest with The Bravery, Wave Gathering Festival in Asbury Park, New Jersey and a load of side shows along the east coast. It was the band's second US tour in the space of eight months. The first track from City Riots' latest EP, Burning Me Out, was recorded in the US at Dragonfly Studios, on the outskirts of Washington DC and was immediately added to high rotation on Australia's Triple J radio station and helped the band grab a nomination for Triple J's artist of the year. It was the sixth track of the band's to have picked up national radio airplay. The latest EP titled 'Socialize' was released through MGM distribution on November 1, 2008 and is also available through itunes australia. The EP also includes the indie dance remix of "Signs" by Alex Suarez of Cobra Starship. City Riots are currently in Chicago recording their debut album with legendary producer Bjorn Thorsrud, who has worked with Smashing Pumpkins, Dandy Warhols and more.
"The synth rock of 'Signals' kind of like a cranky, street-smart Bravery, only good. They do something really special and start to stand out from the thousand skinny-jeaned garage bands that have come before them." Alicia Brodersen

Guys! You're playing in Chicago at 1:00 AM? Jeez. Not only is August 1st the same day as when Warped is in Chicago, but I'm disappointed at the time. I would've love to come, but, I guess, the fact that I'm a teenager keeps me from attending at that time. Have a great show anyway. Love you guys. Can't wait to see you guys again in Chicago, hopefully fairly soon, and maybe not at 1 AM.
Hey! I have to say it was a pleasure meting and walking with u guys a few days ago! U guys were so sweet. Can’t wait to go get a CD because I like what I hear. Hope u guys get to perform in Chicago! Wish u all the best :) <3 Adriana
