In late 2007 Pat Kelley and Chad Fallecker began writing songs with Pat on lead guitar and Chad covering vocals and rhythm guitar while looking for members to form a band. The next member to be added to the roster would be Jamie Johnson who took over the rhythm guitar, and Chad picked up the bass. With Jamie onboard the band started working on several originals while still searching for a drummer. After talking with, and trying out a few different drummers the band finally found a perfect fit in Josh Ruppert. At the next practice after adding Josh, Pat brought along a co-worker who had been persistently requesting to jam with the band. As soon as Mike plugged in his bass and started jamming the band knew it was complete, and Chad found himself standing with only a microphone. Civil State has spent the last 6 months working on originals and covers. They are actively booking shows and hope to put out their first CD in 2009.
There is currently a search for two types of bands for record label consideration.

1. A Pop/Rock/Commercial band with female lead. Band must consist of 2 guitars (Prefer both guitar players to be of lead caliber. However, one lead and one rhythm is acceptable), keyboard/piano, bass, and drums. Lead vocal, followed by backing vocals, in that order, is a plus as it relates to other members of the group. Average age of the band cannot exceed 28 years of age.
* Group must have an outstanding lead vocalist. ** Musicianship throughout the entire band must be very strong. *** Group cannot currently be under any contract of any type that is related to the music industry.
2. A Modern Rock band with male lead. Must be a complete band but there are no prerequisites as it relates to the make up of the band. Average age of the band cannot exceed 23 years of age.
* Group must have an outstanding lead vocalist. ** Musicianship throughout the entire band must be very strong. *** Group cannot currently be under any contract of any type that is related to the music industry.

: Hey everyone....as you may or may not know, Wade Thomas of Toothless Ruth suffered a stroke recently. For those of you who do not know him, he a really nice guy who would do anything he could for you. He has 2 kids and a fiance and is not able to go back to work right now due to physical therapy and rehab. A week before his stroke he was playing a benefit in St Albans for a young man who is going through chemo. So the day Rooney told me about Wade, my very first thought was lets do a benefit for him! So here ya go....some of the best bands in the Kanawha Valley are gathering for this benefit.....something I like to call.....WADEFEST '09.

IT felt great to rock in Charleston @ the Blue Parrot with the Great Civil State. Hope that Justin had a great Welcome Home Party there @ the Parrot. Its always an Honor to meet a Veteran, especially one that comes home from a forien Country. Can't wait until Sept when we can return the favor in our back yard.... Until then.... Chia
