   About C.J. MacDuffee
Born Portland Oregon to a brilliantly crazy mother and a handsome little guy, both now deceased. I caught the tail end of the folk scare. Played in coffee houses starting in 1969 or so. I was the kid. Loved the jugband scene. Always wrote songs. I supported that habit with a million crap jobs for a million years. Married a semi-famous guitar guy. Played some shows and lived in California. Saw some of the world. My remarkable daughter, Zoe, born in 1992. Left the guitar player around 1997 and moved to Seattle. Recorded Checkered Past, produced by Julian Smedley, over several years; released it in 2000. Well, I'm a songwritin' fool. I throw a lovely cocktail party and I ain't dead yet. Once in awhile I play a gig.

Well Folks,
Ya'll need to be careful while listenin' to this here music!  We got all worked up listenin' to "My Checkered Past" and started into Tangoin' on account of its such a catchy rhythm, and played quite snappily.  Course Tim & I are both use to leading ... we both had roses in our mouths, well our legs got all tangled up, and
down we went.  Quite a few scratches from them there thorns, I might add.

Note to self ...  Don't mistreat Ms MacDuff.  Just listen to "You Ought To Be Ashamed" ... She'll dress you right down, fellas!

C.J. we're right proud to have you amongst our friends, and certainly glad your
standards aren't all that high. We gotta go now, after listening to "My Boarding House Reach" we're awful hungry ...

"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)

Promotional Video(My Girl From The South Sea Isles)

"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
