I wrote The Chosen in 2006 at time when the illegal immigration debate in America surfaced in our current event politics. Living in Southern California at the heart of the debate, I wanted to tell a story that shows a changing landscape in America without identifying conventional heroes or villains. In this film, I try to paint a realistic picture of life in Los Angeles and tell the simple story of a man who unluckily finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. But underneath the simplicity, it's the character's pride that becomes the villain and the solution remains the unseen hero. | | Movies | Production Notes:
The film originated on Super16mm (Kodak Vision2250D), and was later transferred to HDSR. The Chosen is currently being screened in HDSR & DigiBeta, with color from Hollywood DI. Filmed over 4 days in Van Nuys, CA. Screenplay was awarded with 2007 Remi award.
