.. We have an annual art auction every year at the comic book convention MegaCon that is usually held around February/March. We also do all of the Wizard World shows because they are such huge supporters of the cause along with dozens of current writers and artists.

The HERO Initiative is served by two boards of directors, Jim McLauchlin of Top Cow Productions, Lady Death Creator Brian Pulido, Pat McCallum of Wizard Entertainment, Joe Quesada of Marvel Comics, Michael Richardson of Dark Horse Comics and Jim Valentino of Image Comics comprise the Executive/Fund Raising Board which administers all the fund's operations and raises money. Dick Giordano, Charlie Novinskie, Dennis O'Neil, George Perez, John Romita Sr., and Roy Thomas make up a peer group Fund Disbursement Board that will hear petitions and disburse funds to worthy applicants. Perez and Thomas are the Co-chairs of that board.

Jim McLauchlin
Jim McLauchlin was a writer and editor for Wizard: The Comics Magazine for 10 years. He was also recently the EIC of Top Cow comics.

Brian Pulido
Brian Pulido is the creator of Lady Death, an avid comics fan, comics writer, and frequent contributor to charitable causes in the comics field.

Joe Quesada
Joe Quesada, a 14-year veteran of the comics business, has served as an artist, writer, editor, and advocate for good causes. He is currently the editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics.

Guillermo Del Toro
Famed director and producer counts his influences such as comic titans Jack Kirby, Richard Corben, Will Eisner and even Carl Barks. Guillermo's recent films Blade II with Wesley Snipes and Hellboy, based on Mike Mignola's perdition-spawned hero. Hellboy 2 is already in the works and Guillermo is also slated to executive-produce the film adaptation of Neil Gaiman's Death: The High Cost of Living. Beth Widera
Owner and General Manager of MegaConvention. Beth has never asked The Hero Initiative for a dime for it's massive booth at the Orlando MegaCon show, and she has always been a gracious and accommodating host for the yearly charity auction at MegaCon, which has long been The Hero Initiative's anchor event. As much as anyone else involved in The Hero Initiative's genesis, the organization owes a debt of gratitude not only for her support then, but for her ongoing support today.

George Perez
George Perez has been drawing comics for over a quarter century, having illustrated such best-selling titles as Avengers, New Teen Titans, Crisis on Infinite Earths, JLA, and Wonder Woman. The multi-award-winning artist is currently co-chairman of The HERO Initiative Disbursement Committee.

Roy Thomas
Roy Thomas has been a writer and editor in the comics field since 1965, working for Marvel Comics, DC Comics, and others. He has also co-written films and TV and is a member of the Writers Guild of America West. He is currently co-chairman of The HERO Initiative Disbursement Committee.

Dick Giordano
In a career spanning over 50 years, Dick Giordano has worn many hats: artist, editor, editor-in-chief, and teacher. Dick presently lives in Florida, where he continues to draw comics for a variety of publishers.

Charlie Novinskie
Charlie Novinskie, a life-long comics fan, served as the sales and promotions manager for Topps Comics from 1993-1998. Novinskie continues to work on a variety of comic and trading card projects and is the driving force behind Century Comic, a company dedicated to working with golden and silver age creators. Novinskie currently serves as board member and secretary of Hero Initiative Disbursement Committee.

Dennis O’Neil
Dennis O'Neil is an award-winning comic book writer, editor and teacher with 35 years of experience at Marvel Comics, DC Comics, and Charlton Comics. He is currently semi-retired, and lives in Nyack, N.Y. with his wife, Marifran.

John Romita Sr.
John Romita Sr., a 54-year veteran in comics, is known primarily as a Spider-Man artist. He spent 30 years on staff at Marvel as Art Director, and currently works at his home studio.

Jim Valentino
Jim Valentino is a co-founder of Image Comics. After a 20-year career as a creator, he helped revitalize both his company and industry as the publisher of Image. He is now creating once again.
