For almost 14 years (February 1994-August 2007), Folk Roots/Folk Branches on CKUT was Montreal's only broadly defined folk and roots radio program featuring a wide variety of traditional and contemporary styles: ballads, blues, bluegrass, old-time, western swing, country, Klezmer, African, Celtic, canciones, gospel, Dixieland, topical/political, Hawaiian, new acoustic, singer-songwriters, jug band, Cajun, zydeco... and much more. Guests included Pete Seeger, Tom Paxton, Ian Tyson, Arlo Guthrie, Bruce Cockburn, Judy Collins, Linda Ronstadt, Jesse Winchester, Tom Russell and many others. Since September 2007, Mike Regenstreif has presented Folk Roots/Folk Branches as a theme- or interview-based feature segment on CKUT's Folk Directions.
