Now that the cockfighting circuit has dried up in New Mexico, Claaes Hardwig & the Bendables 5 have out of necessity begun to play to a wider audience than simply denizens of cockfighting.
Most of their better-known songs, like “Cockfighting Blues” and “I Lost My Girl To a Guy Who Was Into Cockfighting” have been sidelined.
As Claes Haardwig said during a recent “Wake Up Clovis!” TV appearance, “On the subject of cockfighting, the state of New Mexico has spoken. And Claes Haardwig and the Bendables 5 have to move with the times.”
Minus the cockfighting repertoire, what can we expect from Claes Haardwig & the Bendables 5?
“Who knows?” said Claes Haardwig in a recent Penny Saver Shopping Insert interview. “Everything’s wide open now, with cockfighting off the table. Is an exciting time for New Mexico, and it’s an exciting time for CH & the B5’s.”
